DEAD CHANNELS (from other worlds) The San Francisco Festival of Fantastic Film: August 9 - 16, 2007

About Me

DEAD CHANNELS is an international showcase for entertaining and intelligent science-fiction, fantasy, horror, exploitation, action, and weird unclassifiable gems. DEAD CHANNELS plays movies in San Francisco. www.deadchannels.comTHE NORTH AMERICAN FANTASTIC FESTIVAL ALLIANCE www.FantasticAlliance.org+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++ Our first event was the phenomenally successful (and fantastically fun) tribute to the exploitation roadshows: A MONTH OF SLEAZY SUNDAYS! Thanks to everyone who came to the grindhouse to see great vintage films (on film, not video). And a special thanks to Damon Esper - who arrived unannounced for the screening of his grandfather Dwain's MANIAC (from 1934) with amazing stories of roadshows, grindhouses and recycled popcorn. From Friday, May 25th to Thursday, May 31st we brought the US theatrical premiere of the Director's Cut of THE PRODIGY at San Francisco's historic Roxie Film Center! Director William Kaufman, Stars Holt Boggs, Matt Beckham, Diana Lee Inosanto, Cinematographer Mark Rutledge and composer Matt Piersall came here for the Opening weekend. Our next presentation was LIVE ACTS AND DEAD CHANNELS IN THE HYPNODROME! Wednesdays got weirder - beginning July 18th! We followed that with the inaugural Dead Channels Film Festival from August 9 - 16, 2007. Our next presentation was at the historic Castro Theatre on November 1st. 2007, as we co-presented Spoonbender 1.1.1 at the Castro with a rare 35mm live musical presentation of Czechoslovakian director Jiri Barta's 1987 short film POSLEDNI LUP (THE LAST THEFT). Their performance opened THE VALERIE PROJECT. Then it was back to the Hypnodromeon February 16th and 17th, 2008 for LOVERS AND OTHER MONSTERS!DEAD CHANNELS showcases a diverse selection of amazing fantastic films from around the globe - usually presented by the artists who made them. We play something for every taste -- from retro matinees for the whole family to the more twisted late-nite offerings. The Programming Team scours the globe to unearth the finest international and independent cinema out there.

I'd like to meet:

STARSLYDERZ! THE GORN!!! NIKKI BRAND This page is a 24/7 virtual internet festival created as an online companion to our film screenings and the festival in August. So please look around; you'll find some fantastic things on here! We want to meet people in the San Francisco Bay Area looking for a good time at the movies; adventurous surfers looking for a place that has a cool selection of friends; filmmakers, artists, virtual clones, authors, fictional characters, philosophers, cognitive dissidents, food and drink, inanimate objects and dead people, radicals, occultists, publishers and Super-Freaks who will help make the DEAD CHANNELS space more interesting. I will attempt to select a diverse, entertaining, informative and provocative selection of friends - however, this means I might not add you as friend (unless you live nearby). But this page will evolve, so ADD US TO YOUR FAVORITES and please visit often (even if I don't accept friend requests from faith-based hip hop acts promoting upcoming tours in Florida, Black Metal bands from Norway or other such stuff). Thanks for your understanding. So visit any random page of our friends and check out a few of the 1023+ friendly cool people (and things) who are contributing their creativity to this space. Stay long enough to explore a couple of eye-catching profiles: listen to a song, watch a video, read their blog and check out their friends and comments. The journey can be endless. Information wants to be free. "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted".

CLICK ON THE MOVIE IMAGES BELOW TO HAVE A REALLY GREAT TIME!We prefer them to start on time, to be in focus, and to be provocative and entertaining.

Television:

"The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video arena: the Videodrome. The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye. Therefore, the television screen is part of the physical structure of the brain. Therefore, whatever appears on the television screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore, television is reality, and reality is less than television". - Brian O'BlivionOn the other hand - television can be quite enjoyable when used in moderation, even though we now spend more time on the internet.twitchfilm.netcinemastrikesback.comvideowatchdog.co mstomptokyo.comcanuxploitation.commidnighteye.comgreencine.c omspiltpopcorn.blogspot.comimdb.comtheeveningclass.comfilmbr ain.com kaijushakedown.combrightlightsfilm.comjaycbird.blogspot.comc inephelia.commoviecitynews.comjasonwatchesmovies.blogspot.co m
