Paul Sun is a Sydney-based jazz vocalist, whose repertoire covers a wide range of popular Jazz standards, from Blues to Latin and, of course, Swing. He performs with a variety of accompaniment, from a solo guitarist to a jazz trio, and has been likened to jazz greats such as Bobby Darin and Chet Baker.
Born in Nottingham, England before migrating to Australia as a child, Paul has been involved in performance singing for most of his life; from early days throughout school in choirs and musicals, to church choirs and then as part of a classical a Capella quartet.
It was jazz, however, that held a special allure for Paul. Having long been inspired by greats such as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Ella Fitzgerald and Australia's own Vince Jones, this led Paul to make the transition to jazz vocalist, initially studying briefly under the extraordinary Virna Sanzone at Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music, and then under the tutelage of songstress Delilah.
Supported by some of Sydney's finest musicians, and having performed with a variety of ensembles ranging from a single accompanist to a 17-piece big-band, Paul has entertained audiences at weddings, private parties, restaurants & bars at a variety of venues including the Sydney Harbour Marriott at Circular Quay, Pruniers Restaurant, the QVB Team Room and Bar Me (the El Rocco Jazz Club).
Performing from an extensive repertoire of over one hundred Swing, Blues and Latin jazz standards ranging from the early 20's to the swinging 50's, Paul has been described as: "Highly charismatic," as well as: "Great to listen to and seriously entertaining."
Paul is available to perform at weddings, corporate functions, parties, restaurants, cafés, etc. More information about Paul, including additional music tracks and contact details, can be found at his website:
