Who am I? Well - I live in Sydney and love everything 1940’s, 1950’s and early 1960’s. When I mean everything, I mean music, cars, fashion, architecture, furniture, dancing, art, film, culture, values, lifestyle …… I think that covers just about everything! It all started for me when I was a child and grew up watching Elvis Presley and Bill Haley movies on a Saturday afternoon. I was hooked on what I saw – Elvis was (and still is) the coolest singer I had ever seen. I was also exposed to Big Band Swing and heard Glenn Miller and thought his music was fantastic! So the path for me was set. My love of all things 1940’s and 1950’s has always been there and will remain forever.I sometimes feel I have been born at the wrong time and have thought about this long and hard. I have come to the conclusion that maybe I have been born at the right time and I am fortunate enough to go back and enjoy the aspects of a retro/vintage lifestyle without some of the negative aspects from that era. So I feel very fortunate and lucky that I am able to achieve this successfully.I met Limpin’ Jimmy 11 years ago and fell in love, we also found we shared so much in common, with predominantly a passion for music. So we were married 10 years ago and he is truly my soulmate. It was a natural progression for us to form a business and that’s when “Limpin’ Jimmy and The Swingin’ Kitten†were born. Limpin’ Jimmy and I teach Rockabilly dancing; we DJ at events, functions and parties; we produce a weekly newsletter and gig guide which outlines events and gigs related to the music genres and lifestyle we enjoy; we present band events and also manage to go out and have a great time! We enjoy a very busy, frantic yet fulfilling lifestyle and we wouldn’t change it for the world. (Well – maybe just for some spare time occasionally!)
