I was born in South Arica and moved to Ireland at the tender age of 18. I studied at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg and LSAD in Ireland. I am currently working on a series entitled "Cailín" which is a discourse on the rights of passage of a modern young woman. I wanted to explore this theme on an emotional level and depict doubt, reassurance, strength, courage and beauty. Predominantly I use oil on canvas and sometimes include other mediums like gold leaf, varnish, hessin even nail polish. I feel that my work is influenced by the Impressionists and Secessionists as brushwork, empasto and use of complimentary colour are aspects of my style and technique. I also have a tendency to involve themes of the sinister and empowering as influences like: He Man, The Thundercats, Spawn, Brom, Simon Bisley and my wonderful life time soul mate...my brother are constantly swarming my mind and colouring it with a fantasy world.
