Leslie Cottle has been a poet for most of her life. She began recording her poetry and putting it to music over 3 years ago with amazing feedback from her listeners!! Her greatest joy is hearing that her poetry tracks seem to have a rather profound effect on some, a healing effect. Then there are other tracks which seem to cause an entirely different affect. Her sultry voice and seductive words bring poetry to life in a whole new way. A way that most people didn't think possible with "poetry"!! But with every track she brings the utmost sincerity and honesty from the depths of her soul!!
On a more serious note, Leslie also uses her poetry to convey her views on the issues of WAR and PEACE. It should not be considered naive to hope and dream of a world that does not use bombs to communicate nor senseless killing as a way to connect.
Or to dream that human life could be valued above money, power and greed, or that hatred is a myth rather than the accepted norm.
If each person treated one and other the way they wish to be treated themselves then WAR would never exist. If leaders sat down and spoke face to face to work out disagreements rather than communicating through soldiers, guns and bombs then this planet would be a far safer and peaceful place to live.
If we all looked at those of different races and religions with open-mindedness and celebrated our similarities as well as our differences there would be no room for racism.
If we all taught our children to view all people equally and no one person is mightier than the next, racism would be abolished in the future.
Also Leslie is a filmmaker/actor by profession working in the film industry for over a decade.
She wrote, directed, produced and starred in her latest film "Let Them Eat" about the last few hours of Marie Antoinette's life and a present day woman leading a parallel life and incorporated several of her unique poetry tracks into the film with stunning reviews. This was the launch of her spoken word career in the public eye. She was thrilled to receive rave reviews in the LA film world this fall even being compared to Sophia Coppola's film Marie Antoinette and getting superior reviews!! Yippy!!
