About Me

************************************************************ ************************************************************ ********I have been playing music for most of my life. Since joining a town band playing the flute at the tender age of 7, I have developed a passion for music. Having performed for the first time at the age of 10 in a church playing a classical piece with an organist in front of around 200 people, I felt that I could do this and I was no longer afraid of audiences. The following day, I received a classical "Clarissa" guitar as a present from my folks and I am sorry for them, but that huge full size guitar had me drawn to it immediately. About a year later, the flute was abandoned, once I figured out that a guitar would attract chicks and a flute would only attract mice (well at least in fairy tales..). Since then, I have been studying classical guitar for about a year and once I had mastered the basics of that I went on learning on my own. Initially, I tried listening to stuff like Dire Straits and trying to use the right handpicking similar to Mark Knopfler. This was great initially and only for a rendition of a few of their hits, but once I figured that it was hard to play "Smoke On The Water" without a plectrum, I had to get used to this alien tool....Years went by and my first electric guitar came along at the age of 14 and with that a good number of different short-lived teenage bands. Many years later, I have been playing in a couple of funk/rock/blues cover bands for some time and having grown tired of the usual pub rock songs that audiences seem to force you to play, I have decided to go solo and to embrace a more acoustic side of my music, and to finally let my vocal chords do their bit. I am currently performing as an acoustic solo act in or around London and I play my own original material and renditions of songs by my favourite influences. I am also in the process of writing my album "Watching The Hands Of Time" and this is a project that will keep me busy for the whole of 2007. I am producing this entirely on my own, but I will have some musicians help me with filling the gaps, i.e. Bass, Drums and Keyboards. So watch this space and my BLOG for upcoming news...
I love performing live to good audiences who can appreciate the music I play. I am always on the lookout for new venues to play particularly in London's country/southern rock scene. I hope to see you soon at one of my shows. If you are there, come and say "Hi"!All photographic material is © Peter Denyer 2007:...Thanks Peter for being my road paparazzi! :-)
