About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

SINGER.SONGWRITER.PRODUCER.

Founding member of 'Power of the Trinity' along with 'Doc Savage' (drums) & Patrick 'Entebbe' (bass) -and 'Burning Bush' before that. I have been involved in music for over 25 years. Though I have flirted with other genres, roots music has always been my foundation because it is a music that actively evokes and inspires conscious thought.
I am currently putting together the album 'Power of the Trinity', a forward-looking retrospective of the songs Jah allowed me to write and perform whilst with Trinity.
There are some tracks that were written more recently, and are included because they fit in with the original musical/lyrical direction of the band - 'Righteous indignation in the form of social commentary'. So what you're listening to now are rough-sketch pre-production takes that I did at home, to give an idea of where I&I coming from. I have in the last couple of months, produced dub plates for Reality Sound System, (my old sparring partner, Paul 'Goldfinger'). In the interest of exclusivity, they will not be uploaded here, but if you want to hear them - run go to Reality Sound System - the voice of the people, or tune in to Energy FM 97.1
Glory to the King of Kings...IS WHO HAVE DE MASTER TAPE?????
POWER OF THE TRINITY were, for a long while a gigging band. By the time we got around to recording things started getting 'complicated'.
One amusing incident during this time (though it wasn't funny then) was when we decided to spend top dollar and record at Addis Ababa studios, a brand-new, fully equipped 24-track studio in West London. We booked two full days, costing a whole heap o' money for a bunch of poor musicians.
Anyway, because of our defined three-piece band set-up, we had never had additional musicians giving their embellishments to our sound. So when we took the world famous Renford Bailey, guitarist to all the major reggae artists visiting these shores from Jamaica, and Imagination's Keyboard player, Mr Robbie, to do their respective stuff the effect was F***ing amazing. (I never 'kin so much teet').
After we had laid the Basic rhthym tracks to three songs, we mixed off onto audio tape and, bleary-eyed but extremely happy, we left to get a night's sleep in preperation for the following day.
Somehow, during the mayhem of packing stoned, happy musicians and their instruments into various cars after mid-night, the master tape was actually left on a wall on the Harrow Road. Needless to say, we didn't realise until the following day, neither did we ever see said master tape again. (The post trauma analysis was a comedy in itself.)
Sick as a sick, diseased dog, I guess we never really recovered from the loss and broke up not long after. The Royal Flush...

This gig was organised and promoted by the band and Reality Sound System. It was held in one wing of this big old mansion in the middle of nowhere. We packed the sound and the band in a transit and an alfasud and set off - in the pouring rain. It rained all the way from london to the middle of wales. It just would not stop.
That, along with the isolated location of the venue, led us to believe we'd be playing to the dozen or so sheep we had passed on the way up. To make matters worse, we had grown accustomed to playing on stage with percussionist, Bro. Lee, but by the time of the soundcheck, we had not seen him nor heard from him. - Then he just strolls in from out of the welsh landscape, like he just lived around the corner. To this day I don't know how he got there. (Warmth & respect to The-I)
Well, after that 'miracle' I suppose anything was possible. But no. The rain did not stop. But guess what? The place get cork, it cork, it cork.... Where so much people come from, sah?
Bwoy, after that, my view of welsh people changed. Them people will rave - and nuthin' and no distance nah stop them!!!!
Respect!
p.s. My car broke down on the way home - somewhere near merkenhead!!??!!?!?!?
(So I'd been reliably informed).

Do me a favour....
Below is a sample from another album in process....
Right now I'm starting to think about 'contrast' tracks for the album.
I am going to re-record one of the following three tracks in a reggae style.
Which one? That's what I need help with.
Which one do you think would work best in a reggae style?

Have a listen and let me know.

I'm not sure if you can select individual tracks. They might just run in a sequence.

I made this MySpace MP3 Player at MyFlashFetish.com .
