About Me

Jacob Elliot did what most young indie musicians feel like they have to do at some point in their career, he made the move to Los Angeles. Struggling to find a job and a home, spending nights in the back of his 1976 Volvo wagon, Jacob eventually wound up in an attic on Venice Beach. It was here that he began to collect recording equipment, and start the process of putting his ideas into what would become his first solo release entitled 20 Cigarettes .
Unhappy with the prospect of the guy-and-his-guitar shows, Jacob Elliot went on to form a band that became known as The Black Heart Brigade. For this band he sought out drummer Clint Short from Austin, Texas. The pair had met at an open mic, and worked together briefly on a project that was scrapped, but Clint's drumming prowess had left an impression and he was the one Jacob wanted for the project. Ben Kilmer on bass, and Nereida Andrade on cello rounded out the band.
The Black Heart Brigade was short lived but well received. One Friday morning there came a call to Barely Legal Radio on Indie 103.1. The caller was concerned about a clothing line he owned called 'The Black Hearts Brigade' and what should he do about this new band in town calling itself The Black Heart Brigade. After exchanging emails (all friendly, by the way) the band decided it needed to be deconstructed and put back together again with some new players and a new name and The Young Goodman Brown's were born.
Currently playing throughout Los Angeles, The YGB's are focused on putting on a great live show and building relationships with other local bands. In case you haven't been paying attention, you should start; there are some great bands performing locally right now.
Please come out to a show and support the scene.
