I don't know what to say...... I want to meet more people, but this section is about me, well lets see.... i was born in Los Angelas, California in 1981, moved to Miami in 84, and then to Georgia in 96. I love film, music, meeting people, conversation. I'm currently attending Georgia State University, studying Theatre and Spanish (I hope to master the language and work with Pedro Almodovar, even if i'm an extra, that would be awesome). I want be an actor; I love the stage and film and I just want to keep getting better. I hope to meet people, have great conversation, and make friends.....i am a restless soul, both selfish and selfless depending on the time, moody, loving, sometimes, super shy and most importantly as my aunt says, a work in progress......i feel i need to keep updating this, the best way to get a feeling for me is to talk to me........

Music:

powered by frazy.com I'm finding out the older I get the more types of music I find myself liking; for the longest time when someone asked me what kind of music did I like, I said anything but country and now I made a friend over the semester who introduced me to some great coutry music; I am now a fan of Hank Williams and Gram Parson. I find myself wanting to explore more of the country music landscape. I also love Jazz, I love: John Coltrane's A Love Supreme, Mile Davis's Bitches Brew ( I'm learning more about both these artist, they are fantastic);I love Patti Labelle(for me her version of "somewhere over the rainbow" is the definitive version, she can sing effortlessly and still have excess, i love her voice, she is a true diva), Labelle(Nona Hendryx, Sarah Dash, and Patti Labelle, this was an amazing group, these were amazon warriors, this was no girl group, these were women, i got a chance to watch some of Labelle's old live footage and they were crazy, engergetic, exciting, passionate....i've never seen a woman group that aggressive and beautiful at the same time, they are my all time favorite woman group, Jennifer Holliday(I can't get enough of "And I am Telling You", the song is very obsessive, but the woman belts it out, i love it), Billie Holliday(i love "strange fruit" one of my all time favorite songs, it hurts and it's beautiful i love nina simones version as well both are different but equally as powerful, Jeff Buckley has a great version of this song as well, i need to find more of Jeff Buckley's work too, he is beautiful and amazing; and "god bless the child" beautiful song) Nina Simone(the first song I ever heard from her was her version of billie holliday's "strange fruit" and it shook me, her voice...wow! and then i listened to "please don't let me be misunderstood" i was hooked, i had to and still am looking for everything she has ever done....check out "sinna man"..unbelievable, but my all time favorite Nina Simone Song is Four Women), Sade (this woman makes my knees buckle, she produces in me the feeling of sadness, happiness, and lonliness, sometimes all at the same time. Her music is sexy and rich, her stories are erotic and sad. This is a great artist, i will always love her), Mahalia Jackson(i found out about Mahalia Jackson late in life, 1996, i was watching this movie on hbo called subway stories and one of the stories in it was about a girl who was trying to catch the subway to get to her mom before she died and the train was late so she calls her mom, crying and sings to her, her favorite which is "trouble of the world", the mom dies in the middle of her daughter singing and the girl tore it up, i found out later Mahalia Jackson sung this in a movie called imitation of life and she is amazing, her voice, "wow"...), The Clark Sisters, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson(had some great albums), Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan (love her, "sweet thing" and "through the fire" are two of my all time favorite songs, i love her when she was with Rufus and after, one of the all time greats), Luther Vandross (one of the greats), Lauryn Hill (can't wait till her next album), Common, Mos Def, Jill Scott, The Roots, Mint Condition, Dj Spooky, The Fugees, I love Reggae, Soca and Calypso, Bob Marley(love him, he'll be with me forever, he has played a huge part in my growth), Marvin Gaye (i need some sexual healing, that is one of the most beautiful and erotic songs ever made, Marvin Gaye was amazing), Stevie Wonder (Inner Visions is one of my favorite albums of all time), Donny Hathoway (this man means so much to me, his music has been key in my development, his music is so heartfelt, he bares his soul and he can sang!). I just want to keep exploring and finding music new and old.

Movies:

Television:

The Wire, Lost, Arrested Development, Buffy The Vampire Slayer(great show), Angel, Oz(can't believe how it ended), The Sopranos, The Corner (this was a great mini series), American idol (i get caught up in this show), The Chappelle Show, Roseanne, Film School, Samurai Jack(they need to bring this show back..when i worked in the video store i used to play the hour and a half season premiere at least once everytime i worked...i even got people interested in the show..it was a great show) I have to mention i love the cartoons of the 80's , Thunder Cats, Silver Hawks, Jem, Go-Bots, My Little Pony, Voltron, He-Man, She-Ra; these cartoons will always have a place in my heart, great television. Smack Down, Raw, TNA, i've been a wrestling fans since the 80's. I also miss the Incredible Hulk, it had the saddest score on television at the time, i also could relate, he was never able to stay in one place to long (mainly cause someone would always piss him off and he would then have to kick ass), this was a great show, i can't remember how it ended, i wonder if he was ever able to settle down in a place or find peace, i really don't remember how it ended. Sex and the City (the show i discovered on dvd, my friend's friend let us borrow season 1 thru 4 and i became hooked, i miss this show).I love Batman the animated series (what a great show! still the best adaptation of batman, although the new batman movie was pretty great).

Books:

powered by frazy.com I love Comic Books, my favorite character's in the comic book universe are the X-Men, althought the best comic book i've read recently had nothing to do with mutants or people with super powers, it was called "Y The Last Man" and it was fantastic, about all the males in the universe dying via the plague; another great one was called The Ultimate Avenger's and this book completely turns the comic book world upside down, it turns the incredible hulk into a destructive, horny monster, who has no control, he kills people and also saves the world, Thor is now a hippie, Iron Man is a drunk, it was quite brilliant; The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison (I never finished the book, but for me the prologue is so strong with feeling and mood that i can't help but mention it);The Song Of Solomon by Toni Morrison (This book is like a great film, a great meal that completely satifies you, it a great work of art, i loved it; Beloved (I love Toni Morrison), The Bluest eye, The Corrections, The Autobiography Of Malcom X, Wrapped In Rainbows: The Autobiography of Zora Neale Hurston; My teacher introduced me to Michel Foucault and I enjoy reading his work, I'm rereading Discipline and Punishment; I'm currently venturing into science fiction, I read Blade Runner by Philip K. Dick and now want to read more, so i'm starting A Scanner Darkly; Fences, Brokeback Mountain (one of the best stories i've ever read, the movie is just as great).

Heroes:

My Mom is my rock, she is a survivor, protector; she is as fierce as a lioness, and as slick as a chameleon, i love her dearly, she is my hero,My Aunt Sue is a Great woman, strong, independent;she is beautiful and has a beautiful spirit, i love her and have learned alot of lessons from her, she has stood toe to toe with the most intimidating; Zora Neale Hurston, Donny Hathoway, Malcom X, Pedro Almodovar (he is the filmmaker that changed my life, he doesn't just make movies, he makes works of art that have the ability to change the world, that make the world for at least a moment a better place; long live Almodovar)
