SILENTES was born in 2004 from the ashes of AMPLEXUS, the famous italian cult label that has promoted Ambient music since 1994, giving room to many international artist like Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Michael Stearns, Vidna Obmana, Mathias Grassow, Amir Baghiri, Klaus Wiese, Aube - just to name a few – without forgetting about italian acts like Alio Die, Amon, Oöphoi and Nimh.
SILENTES was created by the urgency of a deep and significative change that could cope with the considerable evolution happened to the Ambient / Electronic / Experimental scene during the most recent years.
SILENTES is a new label and a new experience, not just another sublabel. It inherits from AMPLEXUS the original pioneering spirit, and widens its horizons looking forward with renewed energy to a new kind of music, a music that – while keeping a “deep” profile – definitively transcends every stylistic barriers opening the door to the most innovative and affected forms of sonic contamination, proposing a variegated catalogue of artists who are active in different contexts and very distant from each other.
On SILENTES we find a few musicians who previously had some releases on AMPLEXUS: Rod Modell, Michael Mantra, Aube, Amir Baghiri with its newest and eclectic Seele project, Alio Die with a new edition of his CD “Suspended Feathers”, originally released in 1996, Nimh both in solo mode and along with the well-known italian “de-composer” Maurizio Bianchi/M.B. on the magnificent “Together’s Symphony” box-set.
We also find new entries like Opium and Subinterior, both from Italy, Katzo from Japan and many collaborative projects such as Seamus (Amir Baghiri and Stefano Gentile), Waveform Transmission (Rod Modell and Chris Troy), Ontayso (Koen Lybaert and Esther Santoyo), Rod Modell and Kevin Hanton, and other atypical collaborative experiences such as the suggestive “reworks” created by Aube using original music by Maurizio Bianchi, Stefano Gentile and Nimh.
Other highlights from the catalogue include editions of historic material like Maurizio Bianchi and Frequency in Cycles per Second’s "Chaotishe Fraktale" and "Letzte Technologie" – released as a double CD -, "Cerulean Transmission" by Michael Mantra and the prematurely departed Charlz De La Casa, and "Altering the Air" by Global Systems Silently Moving.
Along with the CD releases, SILENTES has also published some limited edition CD-Rs and DVD-Rs by Michael Mantra, Rod Modell, Subinterior, Maurizio Bianchi, Opium, Amir Baghiri and Nimh.

After few months of distance from the escape of "The Missing Tapes" and the relative "Rework" by Aube, Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio) sets aside the ethnic-lysergic visions that have characterized the previous album and continues along the distance of sonorous search and fascinating experimentation electronic, already undertaken with works which "The Impossible Days" and "Subterranean Thoughts", ulteriorly expanding just the range of sounds and instruments set, revealing the own "secrets" through new, dark but stylistically a unclassifiable CD, in which it arranges with extraordinary originality and in an absolutely personal and unknown elements of drone music, dark ambient, electronics, ritual, ethnic, field recordings, and enriching in particular every track with the recurrent presence of evocative sounds of electric guitar in varied filtered and elaborated way. After the recent edition in double CD of "Chaotishe Fraktale Letzte Technologie", Silentes introduces now the result of the new collaboration between Frequency in Cycles for Second (Sandro Kaiser) and Maurizio Bianchi. Music of the great dynamics and great dramatic mood, powerful ", aggressive sounds", drones, sour electronic rumors, but also deep sounds underground, more static parts, dark and expanded atmospheres, dark and buried rhythmic mechanics movements, echoes of reverberating metals. This is the long awaited reissue of one of the best Aube’s work originally titled AQUA SYNDROME, published about 10 years ago by MANIFOLD records. The new reissue included the original album with a bonus track and a bonus live CD. LE SYNDROME AQUATIQUE is an impressive job of deconstruction and resetting of sonorous material to work of Aube, this particularly extended in the duration, treaty and expanded time, much to be proposed in a rich edition in double CD. Through sophisticated and very tested technical of sonorous rework assembled in years of untiring activity in a searching experience, Aube puts molding on and models fragments of concrete sounds of "aquatic" derivation transforming them in unknown drones, noises, pads, loops rhythms -mechanics, constructing a fantastic sonorous tapestry of valuable invoice and incredible impact, and unavoidably bringing back to the memory the first three CD constructed with single water sounds of the monumental one box of 12 CD " proudly published from Amplexus in 2000. Evocative drone-core infused with subtle vocal elements. "ETHIK BLUES" is the soundtrack of the DVD "WINTERBIRDS HELPED THE PASSENGERS" (a truly wonderful movie by FRANCESCO PALADINO). One hour of pure sonic-bliss to completely loose oneself in. An amazing milestone for ambient/isolationistic music lovers, and definitely not to be missed by fans of this genera.
ROD MODELL : PLAYS MICHAEL MANTRA (SILENTES CD 200720)
"Plays Michael Mantra" is an atmospheric project by Rod Modell (deepchord / echospace) consisting of two 30-minute long tracks. Here Modell portrays the feelings and sensations that he was experiencing on a recent late-night train ride, where he was listening to "a/b" by Michael Mantra on headphones, and was fascinated with the way a/b blended with the sounds of the trip. On "Plays Michael Mantra" Modell created soundscapes that are reminiscent of that night, and then had Mantra’s a/b playing in the background (as it was on the train). Made from delicate chime sequences, synth tones, space-echoes, and recordings of distant trains passing through the night. The overal effect is somewhat melancholy, but very soothing and familiar, like sleeping on a rainy night. Epic and majestic ambient sounds that twinkle like stars in the night sky. Extraordinary for late-night listening.

Instruments used to make these sounds were constant companions of the artists for days-on-end. This document utilizes an immense range of synthesizers and obscure electronic equipment.
