Sevenguitars è un progetto che nasce dall’idea di interazione suono-ambiente. Protagoniste sono sette chitarre, apparentemente uguali, ma tecnicamente studiate per ottenere caratteristiche diverse: i sette strumenti sono stati progettati e costruiti artigianalmente con delle camere tonali all’interno del corpo solido che, interagendo con le vibrazioni armoniche delle corde, creano differenti effetti sonori. Ogni chitarra è collegata ad un amplificatore valvolare, ognuno dei quali è contraddistinto da una potenza e da una tipologia di speaker caratteristica. Gli amplificatori sono spinti a una totale esasperazione dei volumi e dei toni inducendo un effetto feedback con le chitarre: le corde vanno in autoscillazione creando armoniche diverse a seconda dello strumento e dell’accordatura interagendo con le caratteristiche acustiche dell’ambiente performativo. Il musicista perde, quindi, il ruolo di esecutore, divenendo semplicemente artefice ed ideatore di un processo aperto a risultati imprevedibili e legati in modo inscindibile al luogo di esecuzione. Ogni luogo, ogni contesto, diviene una variabile significativa che incide fortemente sul risultato, ne è un filtro: il suono risulta, quindi, maggiormente legato alla dimensione spaziale rispetto a quella temporale tradizionalmente associata alla musica.
Francesco “Fuzz” Brasini, musicista e ricercatore sonoro, lavora nel panorama musicale dalla fine degli anni Ottanta partecipando a vari progetti in gruppi italiani e stranieri esplorando diversi stili musicali e avvalendosi dell’utilizzo di vari strumenti fra cui chitarra, basso, organo, pianoforte, sintetizzatori, campionatori e registratori a nastro. Negli ultimi anni si è avvicinato al panorama della musica sperimentale. La sua ricerca si basa sull’estrapolazione di suoni minimali e sulla creazione di effetti spaziali e textures sonore con un approccio lontano da schemi didattici e convenzionali. Attualmente lavora nell’Associazione Culturale OFFICINA49 di Cesena e collabora con Elena Biserna, AZT, e ZAPRUDER FILMMAKERSGROUP in progetti sonori e nell’organizzazione di eventi musicali e artistici volti a promuovere la sperimentazione attuale.
Sevenguitars is a project born from the idea of interaction between sound and space. The protagonists of the project are seven guitars, apparently identical but technically studied to obtain distinctive features: the seven instruments have been designed and hand-built with tonal chambers inside the solid body that, interacting with the string’s harmonic vibrations, create different sonic effects. Every guitar is connected to a valve-amplifier every of witch is equipped with distinctive speakers and different power. The amps are used at the maximum volume and tone bringing a feedback effect with the guitars: the strings go in auto-oscillation creating different harmonics, depending from the instrument and the tuning, and reacting with the acoustics features of the performative environment. The musician lose, therefore, the role of executor becoming only the creator of a process open to unpredictable results and closely related to the contest of performance. Every place, every contest, becomes an important variable able to influence the result: the sound is, therefore, linked more to the spatial dimension than to the temporal one witch the music is traditionally associated to.
Sevenguitars is a project by Francesco “Fuzz” Brasini, guitarist and sound researcher. He has been working in the musical world since the end of 80’s participating in different projects in Italian and foreign groups and experimenting with different music styles. He uses different instruments and bases his research on a minimal sound, on the creation of effects and atmospheres far from didactic and prearranged schemes. He currently works in the cultural association OFFICINA49 and collaborates with Elena Biserna, "AZT" and "ZAPRUDER FILMMAKERS GROUP" in sound projects and in the organization of musical and artistic events.
