The State is a quartet of alien life forms, existing via symbiotic relationship with their host bodies. Though we know these host forms as Dylan Phelps, Joe Brown, Tyler Morris, and Matt Taylor, the true entities that inhabit these bodies share a common name: Rawk.The history of The State is fairly straightforward. Upon entry into the Solar System, the merchant trading vessel from planet Yermommasofat that was carrying Rawk ran low on fuel. The vessel settled into a rough orbital pattern around planet Earth. Aboard the ship, a fierce battle over the diminishing supplies ensued. The alien amalgamation known as Rawk used a new weapons technology to defeat its enemies within the ship, taking control of the depleted resources. This new weapon took advantage of the basic physical laws of sound. Rawk simply distorted sound waves created by tightened wires spread over a piece of wood, then amplified these waves by directing their signal through a Marshall JCM 2000, and a Mesa Boogie Nomad. The newly distorted, amplified sound waves were directed at the enemies of Rawk aboard the ship, and they’re eardrums imploded and were defeated. They also soiled themselves something nasty.Unfortunately, the high-voltage sound also penetrated the ship’s outer walls, causing the ship to fall out of orbit, beginning its decent to Earth. Rawk, still in the form of mere sonic consciousness, was therefore not bound by the ship’s collapsing, falling form, and retreated to the skies outside the ship as it fell to its demise.Rawk glided leisurely toward Earth’s surface, away from the wreckage. It happened upon a hippo farm located in the Midwest of the United States, where it found four host bodies. Enter Dylan, Joe, Tyler, and Matt. Four men, all sharing an intense passion for the well-being of hippos. Rawk came upon them in their sleep, and began the symbiotic relationships that would start the band.Rawk, now in the form of four strapping human specimens, is ready to take over the world with its blazing guitar riffs and phat beats. It has renamed itself The State, and settled in Columbia, MO, where it has started its revolution. Word to your mother.
