Jennifer Scavuzzo, age 27, is an Italian-Portuguese singer who is rapidly scaling the European charts. She draws comparison in vocal technique and timbre to Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald, but with more of a rock influence. The video for “You Know it's right†was the top song for eight weeks this year on MCM Belgium. Her sophomore album “It Feels Like Heaven†was released this year on “Jatitude records†(distribute by Rough Trade).It Feels Like Heaven is born out of Jennifer's collaboration with Marco and Fabio Locurcio. Together they wrote the lyrics and composed the music to all of the tracks. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at “Jati Studios†(Rome, Italy) and features a number of session musicians who support the trio with string and wind instruments. This adds a sonic depth to the rock/pop sound of previous works. Sort of the effect you would get from crossing Norah Jones with Coldplay. The album is sweet and flowing. Jennifer bares her soul and draws the listener into her world for 13 songs of sweet yet driving pop.Jennifer's career began as a child when she began studying guitar. At this point she was very much influenced by the rock bands of the moment, such as U2 and Radiohead. Shortly after learning to play guitar she was already writing songs and at the age of 14 recorded her first material singing in Italian. She continued to pursue her artistic development in her teens, but it was not until her early twenties that she evolved into the dynamic and original artist she is today. This evolution was set in motion by a switch from singing in Italian to English, her studies at the Luxembourg Conservatory and a profound influence from Afro-American Music. At this point she becomes the voice of 7ème Set (now Bump) and brings a fresh blend of jazz and soul to nightclubs. By now Jennifer has become a mature artist and has paved the way for a successful solo career.In 2003 she finishes her first solo Album Impatient, in collaboration with Marco and Fabio Locurcio. In this album, Jennifer unveils her soul and gets back to her early rock influences.The albums' singles, I Belong and Gaze, land her a RTBF nomination for The Cristal lady 2004 in the song/music category.
