About Me

THE LAST ALBUM: EYES FROM THE ASHES OF AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU is a major national touring exhibit and book celebrating the lives of those who were to later die in the gas chambers of Auschwitz. See family pictures, just like you put on MySpace, that were brought by the deportees to the concentration camp, where they were confiscated and marked for destruction in a cultural purging. One box survived, and Peoples Street is marking Holocaust rememberance month with an exhibition of photos from that archive. Come see this landmark show, meet author Ann Weiss, who rescued these pictures, and become part of photo history in Corpus Christi yourself. See you May 8 from 5:30-8:00 p.m, 415 Peoples Street in downtown Corpus Christi! The Peoples Street Photo Project is a cooperative of Corpus Christi photographers who are dedicated to making money through art and photography, and helping others do the same! One of the things lost in the digital/internet photography transition has been the good ole camera shop environment where photographers could meet and talk about all things photography. We intend to restore that place and that atmosphere, right here in Corpus Christi, at the Peoples Street Photo Project. We believe through the gallery, studio rentals and workshops, we can bring back the sense of a photographic community. We make photographs, rent studio space, hold workshops, and exhibit our fine art and the fine art of great artists anywhere we find them! Monthly studio rental plans are available- you get a key, use almost anytime you want! Or- rent by the hour! Send us an e-mail with your phone number and we'll call you back with details.Classes in photography and bookbinding for artists are being added. Check back to see when the schedule is posted!HERE ARE A COUPLE OF SHOTS OF THE ALT EYES EXHIBIT!!!!
