Influences: There are too many bands and artists i've been influenced...from the 60's and 70's rock scene to the funk masters, and in general everything about Black Music, starting from Blues and forward, Jazz from the roots to fusion, latin music..but i also get good things from great contemporary artists and classical music. I had the fortune (and the need) to play almost all of these styles with different people, to me that's the way to trying to be a musician.

They started something...
- W.A. Mozart
- Miles
- Bird
- Jaco
- Tony Williams

ABOUT BIG

I was born in 1973, in Savona…small port city near Genova, north Italy.
I started my music interests before to think of playing an instrument, just listening to my mother singin all-day-long while she was cleaning the house. At 17 my first drum kit..white, noisy and really cheap!
After few drum lessons from a local experienced drummer and graduated in local Music Academy with G. De Paola, i spent five yrs with a rock band, until we made a record in Milan in 1992….it was unlucky.

For the next 7/8 yrs i used to play many different styles with different people all around..then i moved all the way to Milan in 2000..where i graduated in Cpm Music School with one of the most respected drummers and drumteachers in Italy: Walter Calloni.
In the meanwhile i was already playing on tv, ALLMUSIC, as resident drummer in the House Band for a Music Program called “Play.it”..it was for almost a year.
My live connections got better, and i started Tv live collaborations with different italian artists like Paolo Belli, Stragà, Simone Patrizi, Niccolò Agliardi, Edoardo Manera, James Tont, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Soul Rebel and others.

After the Tv period i was involved with Ganjamama, well known uprising italian reggae band, recording and taking part of composition of two released records (Fino a domani 2003– E’ già l’alba 2005) and videos, national tours and 20 days journey to Bahia, Brasil..including great gigs in Festivals and brilliant opening-acts with The Wailers, Sean Paul, Skatalities, Capleton etc etc. At the same time i was playing around with funk bands, rock bands and jazz stuff, just to improve my attitude to be able to approach as many styles as i can.

Another nice collaboration was with Etnorchestra, multiethnic percussionist’s collective; including album recording sessions for “Tribalsamba” released in 2005, and live performances. It also involved me to recording studio sessions with the producer Alessandro Bertozzi.

My love for jazz music and also smooth atmospheres got me recording brush-tunes for Simone Meneghello (“Le canzoni di settembre” 2005), songwriter from Milan, then released in Italy. Actually i still am a part of Ganjamama and i also play for “Gange & Trio”, italian acoustic 5et which plays old italian songs from 30’s to 60’s in jazzy and swing moods. This band plays quite often around Milan and North Italy.

My teaching activities includes Music Schools like “Nuova Musica” near Milan and “Downtwon” in Pavia, "Chameleon Studios" in Milan, but also private teaching.
New collaboration and good musicians came my way recently..including Matteo Bassi, talented and nationally known bass player, composer and producer (something is gonna burn..), Diana Winter, young talented soul singer produces by Fabio Balestrieri. I joined the band for touring and promotional events, to shoot out her debut album (“Ezcapizm”, 16 feb 2007 Atlantic - released in Italy and Europe). Showcase @ BlueNote Milan is an exemple.
Actually also playing with talented sax/oboe/flute player Joe LaViola, in trio, promoting his new album "Contaminations" released by Multiforce/Sony.
Recently interview on DRUMCLUB, the most important drum magazine in Italy, on February 2008.
Latest collaborations:with Dario Ballantini (Striscia la Notizia) live@ RE Awards in Milan, and MARIO VENUTI tv show "Quelli che il calcio" RAI2....also actually touring with Gange&Trio -2 march 2008 @ BlueNote Milano- and many friends like Etnorchestra New Project (sometimes they come back...) and GrecoFloriOrchestra...stay tuned...

I'm also involved in composing and producing trax....

REAL ART ON DRUMS!!
