Hi everyone, and welcome.

Raphael Gesqua on the line, french video games (since 17 years) and movies (just beginning) music composer and sfx/voices maker, from Paris.

During the far past, I had very good experience in the Commodore Amiga computer Demo scene, as the handle of "Audiomonster", which leaded me to video game music, an old dream that came true...That was the beginning of a great adventure, with the opportunity to work with such talented game creators as Paul Cuisset, Thierry Perreau, Pierre Adane, Denis Mercier or Olivier Denis.

You can have a little look at my "videogamography", right in the little under slideshow...

I had a long movie experience, with a film called "Inside" ("A l'interieur"), a survival horror movie featuring french actresses Beatrice Dalle and Alysson Paradis, and directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo. But the 10 titles I wrote for the movie were refused at the last moment by production chairmen for sort of business reasons, and that, whereas the two directors had really loved my work (they were very disappointed not to work anymore with me, but it's law of business).

One of the directors, Julien Maury, had made several short movies before, and I had done most of his soundtracks, before we became friends.

Well, so...that's no big deal, because I have just put all my work for the movie in here, to let people have an idea of my musical vision for this movie. Just have a look at the "Inside rejected score" section. I sincerly hope you'll enjoy them :-)

Thanks a lot to all of you people passing through my page, and regards from Paris...

My favourite composer of all times is John Williams, simply... By the way, I sometimes wonder why some people try to minimize his talent telling his 'sources' of inspiration here or there, citing Lizt, Wagner, or Holst. Well, indeed, every composer has his sources of inspiration, but how many have such distinct style and powerful harmonies and melodies as John Williams do ? (or as the great Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry, Miklos Rosza, Bernard, Herrmann, Alan Silvestri, Danny Elfman...) A music by John Williams is quickly recognizable, even when we compare it with ancient classical masters, like so many people do...And very few composers can be put in that category, from my modest point of view...

So, you've understood my passion for John William's fabulous art ;-) But I also just LOVE Miklos Rozsa, Jerry Goldsmith, Basil Poledouris, John Barry, Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Alan Silvestri, Wendi Carlos, Bernard Herrmann, Bill Conti, Danny Elfman, Christopher Young, Akira Yamaoka, Mark Isham, Michael Giacchino, Erik Satie, Rachmaninov, Thomas Newman, Carter Burwell, Philip Glass, Frédéric Talgorn, Hans Zimmer, Clint Mansell, Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Jan Hammer, Roger Kellaway (great (shamely unreleased) "The Silent Scream" soundtrack, which he gently and friendly gave to me !), Fred Myrow and Macolm Seagrave ("Phantasm" rulezz!), Mishiru Oshima (she just touched the sky with "ICO" videogame soundtrack!), TOTO, Stan Lepard ("Crimson Skies" Xbox game soundtrack is fantastic !) Harry Manfredini, Vladimir Cosma, Maurice Ravel, Antonin Dvorak, Angelo Badalamenti, John Powell (great Jason Bourne trilogy soundtrack) Elliot Goldenthal, Frederic Chopin, Masaharu Iwata, Gustav Holst, Michael Nyman, Richard Band, Claudio Simonetti, Alicia Keys, David Arnold, Nobuo Uematsu, Michael Land, Koji Kondo, Tchaikovsky, George Gershwin, Franz Liszt, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Yuzo Koshiro, Serguei Prokofiev, John Scott, Richard Wagner, James Newton Howard, Vangelis, Charles Deenen (great Amiga tunes), Kenji Kawai, Rob Hubbard, David Whittaker, Chris Huelsbeck, Eric Serra, Laura Karpman, Howard Shore, Wojciech Kilar, Alexandre Desplat, Gabriel Yared (the best french film composer, I think, and a very nice person)

My favourite director of all time is Steven Spielberg (yes, I know: How original ;-))

And I also admire Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Wise (one of the greatest directors of all time, I think), John Carpenter, Mario Bava, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Sam Raimi (Spidey trilogy is a punch in the heart of the fan child I've always been), Tim Burton, Michael Mann, M. Night Shyamalan, Roman Polanski, Robert Zemeckis, Martin Scorsese, David Cronenberg, Paul Verhoeven, Quentin Tarantino, Oliver Stone, Sam Peckinpah, Joe Dante, Tobe Hooper, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Hideo Nakata, Brian de Palma, John Mc Tiernan, Christopher Nolan, Jan Kounen, Darren Aronofsky, Alain Corneau, Wolfgang Petersen, Don Coscarelli ("Phantasm" !!!), Richard Donner, Sylvester Stallone ("Rocky Balboa" is a masterpiece), Ridley Scott, Wes Craven, Irvin Kershner, Olivier Marchal ("36" is a killer movie !), John Milius, Christophe Gans, David Moreau & Xavier Palud ("Ils" was great), Richard Fleisher, Luc Besson, Bernard Rose (because "Paperhouse", and above all his 1992 "Candyman" just rocks!), Claude Lelouch, Jacques Tourneur, Mathieu Kassowitz, George Lucas (yes!), George Romero, Lucio Fulci, Henri-Georges Clouzot, Dario Argento...oh yes, and I forgot Max Pecas...

OK now, with a little touch of emotion, let me introduce you to my VERY FIRST video game music (and sound effects), back in 1991, with Pierre Adane and Philippe Dessoly, future creators of "Mister Nutz"...However, this game, "SNOW BROS" (for the Commodore Amiga home computer (from an arcade video game)) was never released, althought it was totally finished. My part of the job was to compose the Intro music and sound effects, and also the ending music. All ingame musics were composed by Jean Baudlot. However, this video only contains my composition, made with poor 4 channels and 8 bits mono 11 khz samples ;-). Happy listening...

"Legend of the Dragon" Official Trailer/Commercial

Here is the "Fastlane Carnage" videogame original soundtrack I did back in 2005, for Parallax Factory. This very old-school game was an apocalypto-futuristic "Quake on the road", and allowed me to build some totally electronic and insane trip, at least I hope so !...Hope you like it...

Sounds Like:

Just here, you'll find some of my work in short movies, as a composer (and sometimes sound designer/maker and voice "actor"). I take care of keeping a decent quality and stereo sound, to let you watch them in the best conditions. You will, also, possibly be able to watch some trailers or TV spots of released (even oldies) or upcoming videogames I wrote soundtrack for. Just click on their name if you want to see them in "normal" size, on a solo page. Also, you'll find lots of other videos on my "video" page, so just check'em out...Hope you'll enjoy them.

Here is the "Fade to Black" videogame original soundtrack CD cover, released back in 1996 by Sony Music and Delphine Records (which contained 39 titles for about 70 minutes of music). I was very proud, back at this time, to be one of the first videogame soundtrack composer to have his score sold in stores like Virgin, Fnac etc...And right under, you can also see the great PC cover, made by the one and only french artist legend, MOEBIUS (Aka "Jean Giraud)...A great pride for the entire game crew ! ...

There, we have the "Pizza Hunt" ("Pizza a l'oeil") short movie original soundtrack I did back in 2003, for my friend Julien Maury, director of "Inside" ("A l'interieur"). It was a real fun and pleasure to be involved into a comedy/anticipation world such as Pedro's (and "M Corporation" as well), and this movie was also the one which leaded Julien and I to become friends...Hope you'll have as much fun listening to this soundtrack as I had scoring it...

Life Line (Ligne de Vie) is a totally different kind of movie, directed by Bruno Marion, and obtained the 1st price of the french Festival with 9.99 €, edition of Lille, and was finalist at the time of the festival of film to female of Bordeaux. I wrote this soundtrack in a really big hurry (in about 2 days after discovering the movie itself), but I was very glad with the final issue ;-)...Hope you'll be, too...

This is the "Moto Racer" videogame original soundtrack I did back in 1997. This game was the best french video game world seller at the time, and sold near 5 millions pieces...Oldies, oldies...Thanks to Jean-Francois Mignot (guitar), Bruno Ribeira (Sax) and to my friend Marc Minier for the engineering and mastering part, and the moral support !...Enjoy...

Hey, Pedro is back ! Well, it would be more appropriate to qualify this one as a "prequel" (like a Star Wars movie lol), showing a bit why Pedro was so hated by his customers and boss...Still directed by my friend Julien Maury, this was supposed to be a pilot for a little TV show, but fate leaded him to the cinema industry, making his debut as a director with ''Inside'' (''A l'intérieur''), with Alex Bustillo...From pizzas to gore...And here comes the soundtrack...
