2Point9 is a all-in-one entertainment company. It was started in 2003 when Telstar Records A&R manager Billy Grant and Promotions manager Rob Stuart decided to leave the company to set up their own little independent runnings.
Having worked with artists as wide ranging as Ant n Dec (i know it sounds naff. But trust me even then they were jokes), E17 (they were a good laugh and all and Brian knew more about r&b than most people I knew back then), Lutricia McNeal, Conner Reeves, N Tyce, Craig David, Stargate and MisTeeq, our ethos was always to take artists initially perceived as niche and expose them to a broader audience.
Currently we manage artists such as Rishi Rich, Jay Sean, Juggy D, Veronica, Mentor and Laura Holding. We have a record label (2point9 records/dohpointnau records) which releases records in the UK through Pinnacle Distribution and we license our records in other territories. The core of our artists are Brit-Asian and their music mixes contemporary hip hop and r&b with eastern influences. However, the music we are into is as broad as it is long with soul/nu jazz, hip hop, dance and straight pop also being well and truly on our barometer. We also have a publishing company (TwoPointNine Publishing Ltd) and an artist booking agency which sources gigs for both our own artists and other artists worldwide.
Jay Sean went 5 times platinum in India, had two Top 10 records in the UK and sold over 300,000 units of his debut album "Me against myself". Rishi Rich had a track on Britney Spears last album and has mixed and produced for the likes of Mary J Blige, Craig David and Ricky Martin, Juggy D had the 1st punjabi album to enter the UK album charts, Veronica had a huge hit with the Bollywood theme tune "Hum Tum" and Mentor has had a couple of TV adverts music placements for McDonalds and Sharwoods as well as had his tracks in a number of mainstream movies.
Our artists have toured extensively hitting every continent bar South America so far. Key gigs include the Bumbershoot festival in Seattle where the Rishi Rich Project (the whole crew) played in front of 15,000 people on the same bill as Kanye West, the Rain Dance in Dubai where they headlined to a crowd of 10,000 people, The Roxy in New York where Jay Sean played to a sell out crowd of 3,000 people, Jay Sean supporting Busta Rhymes at Wembley Arena and The Project supporting Missy Elliott at the NIA in Birmngham, the Project tour of India and Nepal which was .. well just mental .... and Kenya which was also big!!
So we're looking forward to a fantastic 2007 .... and getting more musical bits and pieces out there into the digital cyberspace.
