Aegis is a Gothic tale of redemption and freedom from oppression. Unwittingly caught up in the struggle between good and evil while mourning the loss of her late husband, a single mother finds closure in the least likely of forms. It reveals to her, a side of her family see knew nothing about and reunites her with a love she no longer recognizes. Underneath the rock hard skin of a gargoyle still beats the heart of human, a heart that will lead to a deadly betrayal. They must prevail over sorcery and vengeance so that each may protect the one they thought they lost.
Director's Note:
After working on some comedy and character driven films much akin to the independent films seen in the 90's, He goes back to the films that have probably deranged him as a child. Alden Miller started working on the story and ideas for the film, "Aegis" over the past ten years. While going to college, he was always bouncing ideas off his friends, one of which took pleasure in playing a warmer-colder game with him. Only telling if scenes or ideas worked or not, never offering a better suggestion. The goal has always been to create a mysterious and gloomy mood consistent with Gothic-themed stories. The main scene will be shot in the "digital backlot" against green and blue screened sets similar to the successful recent films like: Sin City, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Casshern, and the latest success, 300. This technique acts as a perfect bridge to get the Modern Gothic look from paper to screen. They are currently in development of the feature version of "Aegis", reworking drafts of the script. This short film will act as a prelude of things to come.
