About Me

I'm a singer/sonwriter/instrument banger just trying to make a living expressing myself. I've played in all sorts of bands around Detroit over the years, and I'm in the acoustic period of my life, I guess. Although maybe not completely. It's hard to say. I'm working on a new recording with the mighty Tim Pak at the moment, so we'll see what happens. If you like the material that may or may not be on this site, check out the website (gerardsmith.net).

So I got to see John Adams conduct his Violin concerto with Leila Josefowicz as soloist. It was even better than the version that they recorded, which is my favorite among the three that I have. He ...

Nice trip

Nice trip to South Bend. They have new monitors and a sound man at Fiddler's Hearth. Absolutely lovely sound on stage. I hope Chicago goes as well.

Arrrgh!

How does it happen that people can walk up to a stage, after hearing you playing Irish folk ballads for an hour, and ask for dance music?
