Gli Amorosi (‘The Lovers’) are Alys Cordeaux and Jonathan Marshall, a vibrant young singing duo. Trained as classical singers, they are now bringing a unique and exciting sound to the world of contemporary vocal entertainment.
Gli Amorosi perform their own arrangements of popular, romantic and inspirational songs, great film themes and Broadway classics. Their distinctive lyric tenor and rich soprano voices blend to create an extraordinary and captivating sound – one that thrills the emotions and touches the soul of audiences everywhere.
Alys and Jonathan grew up in small towns in Aotearoa-New Zealand, and have been singing and performing since they were young children. They met while studying opera at the University of Canterbury, and first sang together in 2003 – their duet “One Hand, One Heart†anticipated their personal relationship and their career as Gli Amorosi, launched in 2006.
Crossing over into the world of ‘popera’ has given Gli Amorosi the chance to share their delight in timeless, beautiful music. “We love what we do – to sing is such a joy, and to sing in beautiful harmony with another person is beyond words. We are like two threads woven together.â€
