Marcus Singletary is a guitarist from Chicago. He earned a degree in Speech from Northwestern University and, later, studied jazz guitar and audio engineering at Musician's Institute.
While previous albums were defined by lengthy solos (which are still a part of concert performances), this self-titled disc is built around catchy, concise tunes that feature lyrics about peace, love, and positivity.
Mixed by Don Casale on the same console used by Elvis at RCA (Casale is best-known for engineering "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida"), "Marcus Singletary" may sound familiar. However, it captures an important, yet relatively unknown artist with an individual sound, style, and message at a moment when almost all popular music defies originality.
