The Jon Barnes Band

The Jon Barnes Band is a Richmond based group with a wide variety of influences; all of them old school...as long as it has soul! All kinds of jazz, soul, funk, blues, gospel, R&B and world music sounds are to be expected when you hear the JBB. Jon is known for his impressive technique on slide guitar and is considered to be one of the best . He can make the guitar sound like a gospel or soul singer feelin' the spirit, like a jazz horn player, or an indian classical master...sometimes all in the same song! Their material consists of some well known and many lesser known but classic Funk,R&B,Jazz,Blues and Soul songs and some of Jon's originals; with an emphasis on improvisation and blending different styles of music together. The JBB features the talents of Joey Cuicci laying it down on the keys, Kai Eason on bass guitar and Raph Katchinoff on drums.
