About Me

Just like falling in love, building a little empire is not for the faint-hearted, or so Emmy-nominated songwriter, Rie Sinclair discovered. She started life with a director/actress for a mother and a computer programmer guy for a father. They divorced when she was young. She grew up in the urban theatre community of St. Paul, MN with her mother & brother where she discovered her own scientific and experimental approach to art. While crawling through catwalks and excavating scene shops, she'd escape into her own imaginary lands backstage at various theaters. And thought it provided a little ladder of escape from a muddy and somewhat vagabond-like childhood, Rie found herself aloof to the conventions of her peers and unswayed in her romantic pursuits. While still in high school she began to submerse herself in the business side of film and commercial. Reality however, with its harsh reminders of class-status and its tight-roped avenue to the American Dream, not to mention mosquito-like boys who just wouldn’t play nice, then stacked a glass tower of fears in the would-be starlet. Failed attempts at college, in relationships, as an actress and with her own rock bands, left Rie with a dusty guitar and little vision left for any way out.It was then that she decided to pack up her car for yet another grand escape. She burned boxes of notebooks contaminated with a smoldering past and threw on an apron to barista in the city of angels. Driven to complete at least one album but without any resources, an unforeseen phone call early in 2004 changed everything. Rie soon started writing music for TV with her happened-upon producer Bob Hartry. Together they produced and released the “Glow” EP in summer '06.Now with a thrill for adventure, the only escape that this heroine intends to plan is a much needed week in Iceland. Ready to embrace her stormy past and armed with new alliances, the producer-girl, songwriter-girl and sometimes crazy diva-girl will unfold projects with her newly formed I Miss You Records. The first of which is her debut album, “On The Fifth Floor.”“On The Fifth Floor”, released in February 08, is a collection of ballads expressing the heart’s tumultuous but beautiful journey of learning to let go. Several of the songs were written for ABC's Fifth Floor Music, Inc. (thus, the title), & have already aired on the network. “Where You Are”, was Emmy-Nominated in 2006 for Best Original Song and “Always Something” in the running for Pre-Emmy Nom’s in 2007. Other Prime time shows have placed Rie’s work including, Ghost Whisperer, NBC’s Bionic Woman, and ABC’s new series, Samantha Who. Rie also became voice of SOAPnet’s first original series, “General Hospital: Night Shift” in Summer 2007, as she not only continued composing for ABC, but producing old hit songs for the new show.Rie is getting ready to release another album. This project will expose many moments never dreamed where the risk is always undertaken by the heart.
