Michael “Smidi” Smith is a multi platinum selling songwriter and producer from Los Angeles, California.
As a song writer and record producer Smidi has written and produced songs that have sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide. Upcoming releases include 4 songs written and produced for Warner Brothers "V-Factory" and Columbia Records highly anticipated iCarly soundtrack. He also wrote and produced 3 songs on Ashley Tisdale's debut project, Angela Via’s 2 times platinum selling “Catch Me” single and major releases for Will Ford, Together, Everlife, T-Squad and Wyclef Jean’s new project Sun. Upcoming releases include Jo de la Rosa and The Factory on Warner Brothers Records. Summer of 2007 Smidi was asked to write and produce the global theme for Al Gore and Kevin Wall’s groundbreaking concert series Live Earth.
Smidi’s television credits include music for “My Name Is Earl”, NBC's "The Restaurant", title theme and partial underscore, P.I. title theme, underscore for MTV's Battle for Ozzfest, The Newlyweds, The Osbournes, and VH1’s “Love Couch.” 5 underscore albums for Fox TV for usage on their regular programming. Smidi’s movie credits include songs licensed in “Luckytown”, “Duets” and “Amargosa”. (Academy Award finalist.) He has had major advertising licenses for Chili’s, Nike, Macaroni Grill, Kodak, HP and Yamaha.
Also a successful session and touring keyboardist, Smidi began his music career competing as a classical pianist at age 9, toured Europe as a jazz pianist at age 18 performing in the Montreaux Jazz festival in Switzerland and the North Sea Jazz festival in the Netherlands. Smidi has played and recorded for Keith Urban, Tyrone Wells, Phil Spector and Ben Folds.
