About Me

The following is an overblown bio by yours truly…Ryan Hanifl is a new emerging artist in the music world. Once a member of several touring bands VERTICES, YOUR HORRIBLE SMILE, Ryan decided to leave “band life” and concentrate on a way of making music that is entirely his own. Ryan wrote, arranged, produced, performed, and recorded all the music on his new full-length solo debut Sourpuss. The diversity in Hanifl’s music comes from his out-of-the-ordinary background. Growing up in Minnesota, Ryan was a member of the prestigious La Crosse Boys Choir that had traveled the globe by his 12th birthday. And although Ryan did not pick up guitar until the age of 18 and the piano until he was 22, Ryan enrolled and eventually graduated from a fancy music college in Boston with a big fancy degree in music composition. From Massachusetts he moved to Los Angeles in 2001 where he began working at renowned film composer Hans Zimmer’s studio as an assistant to a bunch of fancy film composers, but soon branched off on his own as the in-house composer for a Los Angeles based music production company. Ryan’s classical training combined with his commercial background is what gives Sourpuss its theatricality and yet simultaneous independent quality. Ryan Hanifl is a new kind of artist, one that is distinctly original but universally appealing. (I just swallowed a load writing this…sorry!)To find out when Ryan is playing next, or for licensing inquires, feel free to contact MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/ryanhanifl
