Back To The Burning Wreck Out Now!

About Me

2006 ended with three awesome bits of news for The Have. ‘One Step Ahead’ a track from their yet to be released debut album ‘Back To the Burning Wreck’ had been selected to appear on the worldwide release of EA Game ‘Burnout 2007’, the song ‘Back To The Burning Wreck’ was chosen to appear in the upcoming Back of the Y movie ‘The Devil Dared Me To’ AND they were accepted into SXSW for the THIRD time – a record for a New Zealand band.Never a band to slow down, the lads launched into 2007 with a critically acclaimed performance at the Big Day Out, scheduled a release date for their debut album on March 26th, and sorted a North Island tour with Revolver in March.‘Back to the Burning Wreck’ was recorded in 2006 in The Lab studio in Mount Eden, Auckland, and produced by acclaimed US producer Barrett Jones, whose credits include Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Evermore. The hook up happened when Barrett’s agent saw The Have perform at the 2004 SXSW and knew Barrett would love them. For The Have it was the ultimate complement to be working with an international producer. The boys explain “Working with a producer was a new thing for us, it was good to have someone with an outside ear giving his opinion and advice on the songs, and we felt that Barrett certainly had some good advice especially with his background in the music industry. The album comprises of a much wider range of styles. There’s some of the heaviest stuff we have ever done but we feel there is also a new depth to the material” The first two singles ‘Soul without Sale’, and ‘Red Tide’ most certainly proves this. SWS is a raunchy rock ‘n’ roll blues song while ‘Red Tide’, showcases The Have’s southern American side. Both songs have done time on the Indie Radio Top 30, BFM Top 10 with ‘Red Tide’ beginning to climb up the Rock Radio charts…. The Have ‘Back to the Burning Wreck’ album reviewsSunday Star Times – 4 stars….quality writing and playing…Dazed, confused, and lots of funReal Groove – 4 stars….There’s no denying the talent and musicianship on this discGroove Guide – 4 stars… ‘The Have’s first full length album re-introduces the guys all grown up and one of NZ’s most promising rock acts….do try to catch them live….as they put on an awesome show’Cheese on Toast… ‘ A stunningly good blues-driven rock and roll record that defies any international time-zone. This is the real McCoy. F**ken A’Rip It Up - … ‘a sweltering rock pearler….the Have’s first offering will lather you up in a thick coating of rock’n’roll goodness and spit you out a cleansed mofo with a new zest for life’Jet Mag – 9/10….What the critics say about The Have…‘One of the bands I most looked forward to on this stage, The Have are on the verge of big things with their debut album out later this year’ RIU on BDO 2007‘My only stop at the Boost Mobile stage for the day – for The Have. Perhaps I just have a penchant for rock and roll but I can't see any reason why these guys aren't the most promising rock band in the country. Their southern-fried rock never disappoints and today is no difference – plenty of great new material but some familiar air guitar moments as well on "Monday Through Friday" and "The Fuzz" – which gets probably my biggest rock-out of the day’ Varisity.co.nz on BDO 2007“It was the end of the night. I was drained. They just rocked. They really blew me away” Arnold Frolows, Ex Music Director, Triple J Network on The World Series“ It’s been a long time since I had seen a great rock and roll show……(and) I would be just as quick to proclaim them rock and roll as hell….. It’s a Texas rock and roll tradition to spit beer on bands we dig to show appreciation; this was the only show during SXSW where I had to wipe my camera off” US writer Audrey Edwards for Rip It Up on SXSW 2004Cool stuff that has happened in the past..….• First single from The Have EP, ‘Right On’, was licensed for an Xbox TV commercial and Canterbury commercial for the Rugby world Cup and the Super 12 in Australia. • Second single from EP ‘The Fuzz’ was licensed for worldwide release of the EA game “Rugby 2005” and also as the music for the ad for US Music Site ‘Burnlounge’. • Performed at the 2004 SXSW. Their showcase was heavily attended by UK and US music industry people including Carson Daly (MTV US), Steve Lamacq (Radio One UK), Zane Lowe ( Radio One and MTV UK) • Post 2004 SXSW - UK music industry magazine ‘Music Week’ did a ‘Best of SXSW 2004’ story with a free CD. Out of the 11 bands featured, 10 were from North America and one was from Wanganui, New Zealand – The Have! Other bands in the Top 11 were The Killers, TV on The Radio, and The Dears. • They then were invited to perform in the US where they played well attended show cases at The Mercury Lounge in New York and The Key Club on LA’s sunset strip. • They were accepted into 2005 SXSW where their packed and acclaim showcase resulted in them meeting their US producer Barrett Jones. For more information contact: Management: Teresa Patterson +649 361-3967/+6421 887780 [email protected] www.myspace.com/thehave www.reverbnation.com/thehave
