Miss Non-Stop Nancy Neon

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there until almost seven, grew up in North Carolina, lived in NYC after school, then spent a lot of time in London, eventually landed in Boston.Love 60's or 70's punk, MoTown, Stax, Volt, Northern Soul, Phil Spector, girl group, some early-mid nineties Brit Pop – The Las, Stone Roses, Jesus And Mary Chain, Primal Scream, Oasis – but The Verve are really in a category all their own. Would have loved to have partied with Primal Scream or BJM ...Two cities I love London( Camden) and New York City. Let's fire up the WAYBACK MACHINE and set it for St. Mark's Place circa 1980 ... with Trash & Vaudeville, Manic Panic, etc. Sounds, Venus, all the cool book shops ... I still love Dojo's (sad day, I just heard from Dan that the one on St. Mark's closed; the one near NYU is still open. We still got Veselka, Oddessa, 2nd Ave. Deli!!

After more than five years of giving my heart and soul to SHARE, I was fired. They gave me 4 hours severance pay. Well that should tell you something. When we moved from Davis Square in Somerville to Newton(about tripling my commute),our then boss, Miss P said "You'll love it-the place has loads of sushi places and nail salons!" Oh yeah!

My Interests

60's garage/psyche/punk, 70's punk, 80's garage, etc..being behind and in front of the camera, writing, discovering new restaurants, traveling, shopping in thrift shops and vintage clothing shops, vintage or vintage influenced costume jewelry, vintage or vintage repro lingerie, rockabilly or neorockabilly-seeing boys with their quiffs piled high like Tim Scott(my fave),Smutty Smith,Dibbs,Barry, and the original Rockat,Levi and beautiful tats on their snow white tans still makes me feel like a little girl in the candy store!!! I enjoy experiences...I'd like to write Symbolist poetry while drinking Absinthe...and that 5 dollar milkshake/twist contest/dream date of Mia & Vince in PULP FICTION sounds fun except the adrenalin shot...blah...blah...blah...

THIS IS FROM PERRY ADLER. HE'S A GOOD FRIEND WITH IMPECCABLE TASTE.

I'd like to meet:

Well, I'm lucky I've met a lot of people that I wanted to meet like Johnny Thunders and Walter Lure. I interviewed a lot of the people I admired like Nico and Betsey Johnson. Paul Weller dedicated "Precious" to me after seeing me dance at Guys And Dolls. It was cool meeting my hero, Bob Dylan's son,Jakob, but I'd still love to meet Daddy Dylan. I was supposed to interview Richard Ashcroft when Richard was slated to play the Paradise circa 2000. That show was cancelled. So I never did get to meet or interview Mr. Ashcroft. I've been lucky to meet a lot of great people in the past year or so-Dennis of the Prime Movers and the rest of the guys, Alan and the rest of the Radio Knives,Doug Bruce, Randy Ross,Ron Ross, Rona Maddocks, Chris Horne of Lady Kensington and The Beat Lords,etc.. Myspace friends I hope to meet in "real life/real time" are Francois of Kill City,Jacques of the MODERN LOVERS online zine, stunningly brilliant London designer Patti Bell, American Go-Go Dynamo ,Linda(actually I was fortunate enough to meet Linda at CAVESTOMP 2001,but I wanna go-go with her stateside or in the land of the Niederbeit),the Down Under Go-Go dynamo,Little Miss Go-Go a/k/a Kathy, and last but not least DJ/BLOW UP priestess/professional beauty,Emma Peel!! Along with Patti Lee, I think the women behind Pin Up Girl Fashions(CA), Mode Merr(New England),Cosmic Breed(Australia)are brilliant! *****

CREAM PUFF WAR

Find Song Lyrics At MetroLyrics

When I worked for OUI magazine,my friends KEN FUNK and BLAKE GERARD turned me on to CREAM PUFF WAR by the Dead. They also threatened to dose me which they never did. I miss these guys and the whole OUI staff. I was never into the Dead although I grew to appreciate their preDead group,THE WARLOCKS which were much more garage !!!

Movies:

lock stock and two smoking barrells/usual suspects/killing zoe/pulp fiction/snatch/trainspotting or your basic gritty, Brit(or not)drug or mob film...oh yeah...sexy beast

Television:

MADMEN rules!!!

Books:

biographies or autobiographies of people who have led interesting lives...NICO,MARIANNE FAITHFULL,etc..Idig William S. Burroughs,of course. The best dope book since JUNKIE is LOTUS CREW by Stewart Meyers who thankfully is working on a new novel, the book of rock essays by Nick Kent called DARK STUFF,John Kennedy Toole's CONFEDERACY OF THE DUNCES is simply hilarious,if you liked the movie TRAINSPOTTING check out Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name, great book, but it's no LOTUS CREW. This should be a film. The book has been optioned many times, but the buyers let their options expire. If you like grind house flicks check out Bill Landis SLEAZOID EXPRESS,another cool writer who is sorely underappreciated...

Heroes:

If you wanna be my new hero/heroine or at least be written about or booked at a NEON NITE,send 2 copies of your CD to Nancy Neon,5 Oak St. West,Suite 1605,Boston,MA 02116,USA. If you wanna contact me in a non myspace way,e-mail [email protected]

THE BRIGANDS LIVE AT THE ABBEY,SOMERVILLE,MA,SEPTEMBER 4,2008

THE BRIGANDS are a Boston area band who sonically pay tribute to some of the rawest, dirtiest, grittiest rock 'n' roll in the vein of the New York Dolls. In addition to bringing the Dolls to mind, The...

ABBATTACK

ABBATTACK is a great concept-the excellent pop songcraft of Sweden's Benny and Bjorn hammered out by  supercharged Australian musicians. Ever since the 60's, Australian musicians have created and...
