THE ABSTENTION EP
The debut release from up and coming Brisbane band, "Abstention".
Considering that Brisbane, at the moment, is populated by kids into Hip-Hop and kids into generic post-hardcore and so on.. Abstention would seem to be outside those realms. And thank god. One of the few surfacing bands around that have a unique, progressive metal sound. No offense to other bands of course.
This EP may be short, but it seems to give great meaning to the everlasting phrase "Short but sweet". And sweet it is. Optimizing the "down-and-dirty" hardcore sound, with the clean, crisp unique sounds of modern progressive metal, twisted to rather clever lyrics, to create Abstention’s own sound. That sound will be sure to leave it's mark.
They usually say that a band takes one or two albums to perfect their sound, if that's always true; keep your eyes and ears on Abstention.. it can only get better.
