De Jah Dan Dah become ASTRALALIENS
The Australian Rock band De Jah Dan Dah, which was already making a name for itself in LA clubs as “Australia’s Hottest New Band”, has changed that name to The ASTRALALIENS.
The band’s frontman, Jake Fehres said: “Man - friends and fans have been telling us our name was too hard to pronounce, and that it was a deterrent, so we changed it to make everyone happy!”
“The name ASTRALALIENS is a play on words…with us being AUSTRALIANS, and our music sometimes being other-worldly, it just seemed like a super-natural fit!”
The Aussies had a flying start when they first landed in Los Angeles late last year. Their triumphant US debut at the Key Club in Hollywood became the subject of a documentary film - excerpts of the band’s performance from that film are on their Myspace page.
They rose to prominence Down Under by winning the “Bandfest” rock contest, soon after which they won the "Best Radio-Friendly Band" title at the finals of "ROCKSTAR…The Real Deal!", the rock band search sponsored by Triple M, Australia’s leading rock radio network, and Coca-Cola.
The band was also the Runner-Up in the Australian Grand Final of the Jim Beam National Band Competition, as well as the Winner of the Queensland State Final of the World Battle Of The Bands contest.
Arriving on the Australian music scene a little over 2 years ago, De Jah Dan Dah quickly developed a strong following on the Alternative Rock circuit, largely driven by their enigmatic and mystical live performances. They were soon booked as the support act for American hard rockers Team Sleep (The Deftones’ side project) on their tour Down Under.
Now on their second tour of LA clubs, they have appeared at The Viper Room, The Derby and other prominent venues. With 10 more LA appearances already booked in the next 6 weeks (see their Upcoming Gig Schedule below), fans will have plenty of opportunities to get into The ASTRALALIENS’ really kick-ass Rock music and performances.
The ASTRALALIENS consists of brothers Jakob & Mablo Fehrés, American singer/guitarist Eric Slater, and drummer Chaz Stockham. They are seasoned Karate practitioners, and martial arts katas and the Australian Aboriginal didgeridoo form an integral part of The ASTRALALIENS unique stage performance.
Don’t miss “Australia’s Hottest New Band” - The ASTRALALIENS.
