INTOX FROM THE BEGINNINGPieces of the Intox puzzle started taking shape in 2002 after Jerry Vogel, Rich Spencer, and Tim Warner started talking about all the bull Shit involved in being in a band. He said she said they said etc. So they came up with the idea of having fun first and leaving all the pressures of trying to be a successful signable band behind.The concept put together a band that did a 50 50 mix of covers and originals. But still the drama continues, Tim didn't like the singers lyrics (Paul Maring), the singer didn't like the tuning..blah..blah..blah, so Paul left the band. Shortly after Tim left the band. Somewhere in the middle of all this we did manage to secure a rythm guitarist (Matt Engler) who is currently still with us. Not one to quit Rich Spencer said we need to keep moving on, we'll pick up a singer and lead guitarist later on.So the band decided to learn some old originals that were kickin around from one of their other projects, then threw in some covers and about a month later had 10 songs. With that in hand Jerry contacted his old guitar player Brett Baker. Now all they needed was a singer....Ray Frey the final piece to the madness.Ray was hangin out with this other local band doing one or two songs. Jerry approached Ray on the idea of joining our band full time. After much persuading and alot of beer, Ray was in.With the band set we needed a name. The joke started one night (drunken night) that we should call ourselves Detox cause we could have used an AA sponsor and just in that second Jerry fumbled out INTOX and the name stuck.So on August 1st 2003 Intox played out at the California Brewhaus and they lived happily ever after...but the drama came once again.Brett bailed, so we picked up long time friend Mike Longo, he also left the band after a short time. Enter Mad Mike Montrois (The Savior).Now the band has 5 members with the same goal in mind, first have fun at what your doing without passion there is nothing, entertain the crowd, and try not to care what the critics have to say, opinions are like... you know the deal.
P.S. If you come to a show and don't have a good time with all the other great bands we play with it's your fuckin fault.
