An alternative/pop-rock band from Bulgaria, who astound the bulgarian music scene with innovative songs, in terms of both musical composition and lyrical content. P.I.F. are also an incredible live band, mixing their passion for improvisation with their front-man Dimo's theatrical talent and storytelling abilities thus creating an incredible experience for all their fans. The band has an unique sound and brings fresh change into the regular Bulgarian music scene. Lineup: Dimo Stoyanov (vocals), Ivan Velikov (guitars, backing vocals), Hristo Hristov (guitars, backing vocals), Pavlin Bachvarov (keyboards, backing vocals), Atanas Kasabov (drums, backing vocals), Martin Nikolov (bass guitar). Discography: P.I.F. (2000) P.I.F. - Pictures In Frames (2001) P.I.F. - Passion In Fact (2006) History: The band was established in 1992 in the town of Varna, Bulgaria under the name "Resemblance". At that time Dimo and Ivan were highly influenced by the "Seattle Sound" (also known as "grunge") and were determined to incorporate that style into their music. During that first stage of their carrier they recorded over 40 demo songs, all in English. In 2000 they changed their name to P.I.F. (an abbreviation for Patriots In Fashion) and moved to the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, where they recorded their first, self-titled, album. It consists of 13 tracks, composed by Dimo and Ivan, and was highly critically acclaimed, and moderately commercially successful. The song "Prikazka" (Fairytale) became an unprecedented hit and gained P.I.F. a great amount of popularity, making them one of the few successful alternative rock bands in Bulgaria at that time. Other notable hits from the album are the songs "Vali" (It's Raining), "Patuvane" (Travel), "Kambanite" (The Bells) and "Nevidimo Dete" (Invisible Child). P.I.F. also made three musical videos for the songs: "Prikazka", "Vali" and "Sam"(Alone). In 2001 they finished their second album, "Pictures In Frames", which also contained some great songs (the most popular and liked of which was, and was equally well accepted. In an interview the band stated that the recording was done in a remote villa in the Rila Mountain, where the went to distance themselves from the hustle and bustle of the capital city. This, the band say, is the reason why the album sound so "remote and detached from the flow of time and out-of-this-world"The song "Otlachen" (Banished) from that album also spawned a music video. Through their unique ways of creating music, the group continued gaining popularity at that time; However, Dimo shares that the album was created during a very difficult period for the band - at that time he was divorcing his wife, and pianist Liubo was leaving the band etc. It was then that a song called "Obarkvacia" (Perplexity) was created and a video was released. The song was released separately, as P.I.F. said it didn't fit the whole idea of the album and wanted to represent something a different feeling - that of the confusion and chaos which all these tremors brought to the band and each of their members separately. The song also has a musical video. In 2005 the band suffered some lineup changes, some of it's members were replaced due to personal reasons and creative differences. Guitarist Hristo Hristov, bassist Martin Nikolov and drummer Atanas Kasabov were accepted into the band, which which the lineup was once again complete. "Passion In Fact", their last album to date, was released in 2006 and incorporates a slightly more electronic sound.
