WELCOME TO AURORE PRESS
Were You There? Contributors Sought for Jockey Club Tribute Book
The idea came to us in a fever dream after Bryce Rhude initially sparked our collective sentimentality and (vague) recollections of our very own days within the hallowed halls of the smoked-filled, beer-stained infamous Jockey Club of Newport, Kentucky on a Web site and MySpace page .
It proved to us that 20 years after the demolition of the legendary nightclub, a forum is overdue for the cast of characters who made up the JC “scene”. So Aurore Press has decided to step up with a rousing cheer and announce that our second book release will pay tribute to the late and great Jockey Club heyday of the 1980s!
Aurore Press is now actively seeking submissions from contributors willing to donate their memories to a book dedicated to The Jockey Club of the 1980s, specifically between 1982-1988. The book is scheduled for release in November, 2008.
If you are an artist or writer or even if you just have something to say or to contribute to the book, Aurore wants to hear from you! Writers, poets, essayists, etc. may submit their work in a Word document or PDF and artists, photographers, painters, collagists, etc. should send a digital photo(s) of their piece(s) along with a brief description to [email protected]. Submissions may also be sent by mail to 4243 Kirby Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223.
Proceeds from the sale of the book after it’s published will be donated to LINKS, (Lonely Instruments for Needy Kids) , the Cincinnati-based charity that collects and refurbishes old instruments for kids who want to play an instrument and who could otherwise not be able to buy, rent or borrow one.
For a PDF of the Press Release, click here . Deadline for all submissions is August 31, 2008, so let's get writing!
