Writing (poetry first, but also fiction); painting; music; awareness of sensuality; playing in the dirt in spring and summer; books, books, and more books; my family; my friends (who are like family to me); cooking, as long as I get to make it up; movies; being social--meeting people. I love my family---immediate and extended (they are all creative individuals who love to laugh, hug and kiss).
Interesting and honest people with a creative streak...or at least a grand appreciation of creativity.I would love to meet Tom Robbins, Margaret Atwood (my daughter and I did recently---she was 7 1/2 and got to ask the final interview question of the night, and it was one of the best, most concise, non arse-kissing questions too! Ms. Atwood really appreciated that.), Anne Lamott, Matt Dillon (that goes WAY back...), Prince, Michael Stipe, Natalie Merchant. Sitting around talking with Zach Braff would be nice. Katharine Hepburn if she was still here... and Mr. Rogers too (Fred himself) and Humphrey Bogart.
Any jazz or blues. Classical, in general: Mozart, in specific. Opera. The Doors. Nickelback. REM. Natalie Merchant. The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Prince. Edie Brickell. Madeline Peyroux. Much middle eastern ud music, such as Simon Shaheen...and Anouar Brahem ("Le Pas Du Chat Noir" is the most beautiful music I've ever heard). Milele (take a listen & read a bit--www.milele.com ) many many many others... I could not live without music. Check out David Patrone and Brian Vander Ark as well!!
LOVE 30s and 40s movies. Casablanca, All About Eve, all Katharine Hepburn movies and Humphrey Bogart movies. Newer stuff? Crash; Capote; Walk the Line; Anything created by Baz, especially Moulin Rouge; Amelie; Pulp Fiction; Sin City; Garden State; Lost in Translation; Braveheart; The Secret of Roan Inish; Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle; The Outsiders (goes with the Matt Dillon thing-it's just there so deal); anything by Tim Burton (Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride and Big Fish being my favorites...but then there's Edward Sissorhands too). OH! Gregiore Moulin. (Hilarious!) My favorite of all time, though, I saved to list last: Like Water for Chocolate. (Sit through the subtitles even if you haven't before---so worth it!)
the old Addams Family tv show (with Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams); Nip/Tuck; Scrubs; 24 is a good show. But honestly, I don't watch much television at all.
All of Tom Robbins novels---three favs of his: Jitterbug Perfume, Skinny Legs and All, and Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates. Anything by: Margaret Atwood; Kerouac; and Bukowski. Also: Anne Lamott. Capote: In Cold Blood. Just read "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant and that was quite well done. *** I read voraciously--so I'll read anything. Anything except Romance Novels that is...not a fan. Always looking for suggestions of great books!
Katharine Hepburn , My Grandma Lenore, and my Great Aunt Maud
