Dear Patrons
Recently, Amon Amarth's Fredrik Andersson, took time out while being the in the midst of their US tour to talk to Just Say Rock about the bands upcoming tour of Australia. Here, he answers questions about the band's direction, their inspirations, their thoughts and anticipations of coming to Australia, and of course, about their proud Viking history.
To read and view this interview simply log onto the Just Say Rock website @ www.justsayrock.com.au and click on the Amon Amarth interview icon on the front page to be directly taken to the entire interview.
With three weeks to go until their first ever show on Australian soil, this tour promises to be an emotional energy pumped barrage from one of Sweden's best metal acts.

Immortal, from the Norwegian town Bergen, established themselves as one of the most important black metal bands in the world. Singer and guitar player Abbath is one of the most charismatic frontmen in this genre, and their live shows are legendary.
The story of Immortal started back in 1991. Abbath and Demonaz decided to start a new band together to play cold and icy black metal. Skins, spikes and corpsepaint – that was their modus operandi. Musically they were influenced by Bathory, which you can hear on their first demo and the debut album Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism (1992). This and the influence of Venom and Slayer was no secret to the fans.
1993 saw their first European tour, with Rotting Christ and Blasphemy. Their popularity grew and grew, but then Demonaz had to quit the band, because he had massive problems with some nerves in his hand. He wasn’t able to play guitar anymore, but Demonaz is still part of Immortal, taking care of the lyrical concept of the band.
First Ares of the Norwegian band Aeternus helped Immortal out on bass while Abbath changed to guitar, but later on they found another line-up with Iscariah as their new bassplayer. With this line-up they released two brilliant records: Damned in Black and Sons Of Northern Darkness. Both records received incredible reviews worldwide. Also, magazines, which were not so friendly to the band in the past, gave them good support and reacted very euphorically. Damned In Black sold more than 100.000 copies worldwide, which is a fantastic number for an extreme band like Immortal, a band which always stayed true to themselves and never used keyboards or female vocals to get attention in the gothic scene.
Damned In Black was their last album for Osmose Productions, and they changed over to Nuclear Blast Records. In September 2001, they entered the famous Abyss Studios with Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) where they also recorded the last two albums. Sons of Northern Darkness is the next step to bringing the band into eternity.
In July 2003 came the somewhat sudden announcement that they were disbanding for personal reasons. But now Immortal has reformed, and after the highly successful comeback dates, The 7 Dates of Blashyrkh, and triumphant concerts in their native Norway, Immortal is back – stronger than ever!
In 2008, Immortal will do what no-one ever expected and they have made a decision that will send shock waves across the industry; they are coming to Australia and New Zealand! This is nothing short of a coup for the people of these countries. Renowned for only performing at festivals, and they are few and far between, Immortal will head south and perform 6 shows that will no doubt be breathtaking and unforgettable with each performance containing fire breathing, intensity, passion and icy cold Immortal style Black Metal.
We, in Australia and New Zealand, are truly blessed and fortunate for this chance and this will be a ONCE IN A LIFE OPPORTUNITY that cannot be missed. Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday 13th of November. Melbourne people can get their tickets NOW on www.justsayrock.com.au
Finally, we encourage all people to log onto the Just Say Rock website and view the VERY SPECIAL IMMORTAL VIDEO MESSAGE from the band themselves. Log onto www.justsayrock.com.au to view this streamed message.

THE WRATH OF THE NORSEMEN TOUR
AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND 2008

There is a lot to be said for a metal band whose audience comprises of a mix of death metal, nu metal, hardcore and grindcore enthusiasts. That band is Sweden’s Amon Amarth, whose fusion of Viking mythology and imagery in their music and lyrics, along with epic, sweeping melodies set to the tune of traditional death metal, has won them fans from all walks of life. Not an easy feat, considering how protective some fans can be about metal and its many carefully segregated sub-genres. Yet it’s working for Amon Amarth, who have quietly but rapidly made their mark overseas as one of the hottest properties in the scene.
In a New Year’s resolution that will be kept, Amon Amarth will invade Australia and New Zealand in early January 2008 with their promise of conquering this last slice of the world. Australia and New Zealand will be witness to Amon Amarth at their peak: fresh from a world wide tour with “Dimmu Borgir” and in the transitional stages of promoting their career-defining album “With Oden On Our Side”.
Tickets will be on sale next Friday (19th October). They will be available from your usual outlets

Dear Patrons
The new, and very much improved Just Say Rock website has been launched, is live, active and on-line! This new website will allow patrons, bands, and anyone to listen to music, watch videos, post messages, chat on the forum, and view new postings and new messages. However, the best part of the site will be that anyone in any band from any genre can load their music and video clips on the site for all to view and see.
There will be a section were the patrons can vote for their best unsigned artist, best clip, best track and give their thoughts and feedback. The merchandise section will allow anyone to sell their items through the site. Overall, this is a website that is somewhere between Youtube, Myspace, an on-line store and of course, a place where you can find out all that goes on with the Just Say Rock tours and our upcoming events and plans.
In short, the new site allows blogs, attempts to give you an events and gig calendar, will give you song and video listings, will have a gallery and will allow you to sell your own songs, CD's and merchandise.
We encourage all people, and all members in bands, to sign on, use the site to their advantage and take whatever information they need. For any person that is a member of a band, feel free to post your tracks or clips on the site and allow your band to be exposed to the general public. Log on to www.justsayrock.com.au
