About Me
Ric Dowhan, Born in Toronto April,16,1954;after hearing my first "Beatle" album, I started playing drums at 9 years of age with the Toronto Optimist Drum Corps, after learning a few rudaments, I carried on in the basement of my parents east-end home, dodging potatoe's thrown, very accurately by my grandmother who did not share my keen interest in learning to play the skin's. My first gig was played (1967) at an Earl Grey,Jr. High grade 7-8 dance in the school gym, it was a great door opener to meeting girl's in the weeks ahead....and the band history begin's years...."72" THE ED BERNARD SHOW, "73"FULL MOON,TOKYO ROSE,"74"DAVID BACHA BAND,"75" WILSON BROTHERS,CAROL BARNES BAND"76" RUSTIC (Carney),"78-79"SHERRIFF,"79-80" DODGE CITY BOYS,"91"BANDIT,"99"POUND FOOLISH,"03" THE RESISTANCE,"04"JOSH&DADS BAND (the Liverpool Years)"05"JERICHO,CREAMED EXPERIENCE.......... What can I say it's been a great trip from gigging all over Eastern Canada to living and playing in Liverpool
(2yr's) But most memorible....
playing at the Cavern in Liverpool with my oldest son Joshua....and the story is still unfolding....Other memorable moments. "1" cutting the umbilical cord on my 3 son's, Curly, Larry, and Moe. Or as their friends call them, Joshua, Sean, and Liam. I prefer the latter. "2" Opening for Roy Buchanan at the club "New York New York" in Hamilton Ontario, with the Dodge City Boy's.
Coincidentally, the club burned down a week later. "3" Opening for Fludd at the Key to Bala in Gravenhurst, and swimming off the dock at the back of the club minutes before we were to go on. The band was "Bandit" (Bacha).
"4" Having Jack Cassidy (Spirit) pose for a photo backstage at their gig at the CNE stadium Toronto.
"5" Having Rory Gallager stop and pose at his sound check at the CNE stadium . I was just learning to use my camera at the time, and got a beautiful shot of the clouds and stage and Rory.......Just a silouette in the photo (DAMN).
"6" Meeting Pete Townsend and Roger Daultrey back in the 70's.
"7" Meeting, talking and watching practice one of the great drummer's from the states, Billy Cobham. (What a powerhouse)
"8" Playing the Shad club in Hull Quebec, le Circ Electric in Quebec City with Sheriff in 78.
"9" My first time in a real recording studio was with "Bandit" (Bacha) in 1974. Skip Prokop (Lighthouse) produced the session and Jim Morgan engineered it. Additional musicians Deja Vu vocals and David Stone on grand piano (Symphonic Slam). As for the songs, Chris Snell's tune, we recorded at my house in Courtice Ontario using logic and Tascam recorders. I played TD-8 drums (Roland), back in 99. I happened to come across a copy of it that I had recorded on mini disc. Josh dumped it down to Cubase 4 on our PC here in Toronto October, 07. and played some various guitar parts.
We are going to be recording and adding new tunes and hopefully a few videos to the site. And the Wheels are still turning.
