Maurizio Angeletti tribute site
Maurizio Angeletti is one of the finest acoustic guitarist we ever had in Italy, probably the best italian 12 string guitar player.
Hope you would come back to play someday, takin' down the kite you left free in the air.

Wherever you are, this is dedicated to you
Maurizio Angeletti was born in Chieti in the '50s, but grew up and was educated in northern Italy, Milano. He released three LPs only, unfortunately not reprinted on CD.
Maurizio Angeletti, Young Records, 1980
Windows Over the Stream, Old Tennis Shoes Records, 1981
Go Fly a Kite, Moondance Records, 1983
These LPs are very hard to find, but there's still some copy you can find on the web:
L. Ghirotti Collection , Super Records , Crotalo Ed. , Vinyl Collector , e-Bay
In 1982 Maurizio Angeletti published the book "American Guitar", an essay on american acoustic guitar's music and its evolution by monographys of musicians. Even if dated, his critical contributes are still interesting. Unfortunately not reprinted and not translated in english. This book is very hard to find, if you get one take care of it.
American Guitar, Gammalibri, Milano, 1982
In the '80s Maurizio Angeletti often collaborated with "Hi, Folks", the musical review directed by Ezio Guaitamacchi (now director of the review "Jam" ) writing about acoustic guitar music, HERE you can read some of his published reviews (in talian).
In 1982, while living in New York City, a friend sent him a $12 delta kite (called Delta Queen) she had obtained from a Go Fly a Kite Store , and thus he discovered the world of kites and kite flying. He began to build scores of traditional kites and to develop his own designs. From 1984 to 1997, Maurizio Angeletti worked mainly as a professional kitemaker, wrote articles on kites for various magazines, worked for Kite Lines Magazine for a few months in 1993. These are the two manuals he wrote about kite self building (in italian):
Costruire aquiloni, Milano, Gammalibri, 1986
I colori del vento, Milano, Gammalibri, 1994
From the middle of the '90s Maurizio Angeletti lives in Great Britain, where continued in kite building.
At the time he seems have stopped his work as a kitemaker too, but he still lives in Great Britain.
Guitars
Somogyi custom
Handmade by Ervin Somogyi , great luthier who also built guitars for Alex De Grassi, Micheal Hedges and William Ackerman in the early '80s. I don't know which features it had, but this might be a very fine instrument, since Somogyi guitars are always very precious and refined, as well an artist's work.
Taylor 855
12 strings guitar, crafted in te '70s when Bob Taylor's guitars weren't yet a factory's product, but almost handmade instruments. Maurizio Angeletti mainly used it on the LP "Go fly a Kite".
Bozo
A japanese version (factory made) of a model by Bozo Poduvanac , great luthier who also built instruments for Rev. Gary Davis, Leo Kottkte and Peter Lang. Maurizio Angeletti plays this one on his first album.
