Be careful. ..Originally Born, Dante' Thomas LaCass in Akron,Ohio on April 18, 1982. Dante Innferno has always had a passion and fascination with music. "I can remember going through my Dad's records, and playing instruments at a young age." "I love this music, this art i do, I take my work very serious, and take pride in what i do. By the age of 16, after living in four other cities in Ohio, D.I. found himself in a single parent house hold, being raised by only his Mother. "Yeah, I love my Mom, she raised us good." "Its very hard for a single mother to raise three kids on one income." "Shit, I remember alot of cold, hungry nights, and struggle, but it only made me into the strong man, you see today. It was at this point, that D.I. formed his own rap group "V.S.C" (Versatile Style Cru). He began to take rap more serious from that point. "I can't lie, I was fascinated by the hiphop culture, it consumed me, I wanted and everything in it, Money, Power, and Respect. " I was out there, doing wrong, slanging, robbing, stealing, we were out there, little knuckleheads." "Then I can remember half of my crew got locked up." "My man "P" got knocked for a drive-by shooting, so that was when I did my solo thing." "I really stepped it up hustling, selling my own cds, doing shows, grinding off music at strip clubs, any club i could get around. Anyone who knows me knows me for my ethic and seriousness, "I don't play." In 2003, D.I.'s persistance and talent payed off. He signed a contract with a demo-distribution label. "I got looks from Dame Dash, Diddy, Atlantic, TVT, Warner Bros., Capital, and So So Def, but they all passed on my project." "It really made me step it up more." "I was getting looks from like ten different labels, setting meetings up, discussing figures, meeting with A&R's. I decided to go with the "musical powerhouse" , Money Orientated Brothaz Inc. Records, and thats what i call home. Now D.I. is poised to "brinh back real rap." His lyrics are serious, witty, and intelligent. His delivery is pure-rapid- fire flow. His drive and work ethic are crazy. For years to come D.I. will be seen as a force to be reckoned with. "I'm focused, I got my mind my right, I see where I'm going, and I'm not stopping until i get there." To me, hiphop is a culture, a movement , away of life..its what i live for at the end of the day.
2) Which artist made the biggest impact on your life?
I would have to say Nas, for sure. Nas is so lyrical, and all-around. He takes time on his lyrics, as do i. To me, he's the complete MC, and what I am for when i do music.
3) What CD do you have in your player right now?
Actually in my cd player now, I'm bumping that Kanye West "Can't Tell Me Nothin" Mixtape, and a beat cd (since I'm working on my new album). There is not alot of impressive artists out there to me right now. Everyone is a gimmick now-a-day, we lost "the realness" of music.
4) Biggie or 2Pac? Nas or Jay-Z?
2 Pac because of how he related to EVERYONE, i don't care who you are, you be grandma or something and Pac had something you could relate to. Nas to me beats Jay-Z for this reason alone to me, Nas raps about everything, and everything going on around him. Jay-Z is more of a "me" , "myself" , and "I" kind of rapper. Jay is nice, no doubt, but who wants to hear a whole album about a dude bragging about him.
5) Describe your style in 5 words or less.
Witty, Lyrical, Real, Catchy, and Serious
6) What's your favorite drink?
Normally you can catch me with the h2o, but when im out at the club...Grey Goose all day!!!
7) What is your favorite song that you've recorded?
My favorite song so far is Fallen Soulz, a joint i did about life in general. We all go through it, we all relate to it, its just how you take it, that makes you or breaks you. It also talks about alot of loved ones I've lost , as well as fallen rappers, and street heroes.
8) Where is your favorite place to perform?
My Favorite place to perform is Columbus, there is nothing like home.
9) How did you get your stage name/nickname?
My name is Dante' Innferno, aka D.I. I actually got it from the book Dante's Inferno, or The Inferno of Dante. My real name is Dante' as well. In the book "Dante's Innferno" it speaks on Dante's travels through Hell. So i relate that with my life, and what i've endured, basically going through Hell to get where you're going. I've been through so much with this industry and everything in my life, and still going through it. I can't wait for the day, when i can look back, and say, remember when?
10) What current projects are you working on?
Right now im actually working on my mixtape set to drop soon. I have all kinds of music in the streets right now, alot of people digging it. I'm also looking to shoot my video this Summer, and basically i'm just waiting on The Mob Inc Records official studio to get done, once that happens we will be booking alot of shows, and making alot more moves. Just know that while you are in bed sleeping, Dante Innferno is working, lol.. I'm always on my grind.
