New section : 5 questions to an artist from my friends' list

5 Q&A 2...

Belle Humble
Q: Best realization -ever-:
A: That we all get a bit paranoid sometimes - that usually sorts out any paranoia pangs quick time! Then you can get on with what really matters.
Q: Your opinion on the music scene right now?
A: Music is always good! There is a big machine that is the industry churning out PR spins and developing artists into something that the they think will sell. This is capitalism and manufacturing music is part of this. There is also a plethora of amazing independant artists (some signed to majors, others to indies lots and lots to no-one at all). In the end it should always be about expresssion. I like being in the music scene cos it's so much fun and I get to meet other insane artists like myself!!
Q: Your second favorite city in the world and why?
A: San Fransisco and that whole lovely Bay Area. Firstly, sweet Mum lives out there, secondly everytime I get my ass out there I have such a wicked time. SO FRIENDLY!! Plus it was the hub of revolutionaries in the 60s and some very interesting things happened there! You can still feel it in the air.
Q: What's your guilty pleasure?
A: I try sooo hard not to feel guilty about pleasure but I guess there are some silly naughty pleasures? Like dancing til it's light outside and then realising you have to be up for work/studio/rehearsal in 3 hours. ohhhhnooooo!! but I had fun, but I feel guilty etc etc.
Q: Worst job ever?
A: When I was 15 my Dad came home and said "Belle you have a Saturday job, you start this weekend". I was of course ummm, thrilled (but thanks all the same for instilling a strong work ethic). It was a deli in Hampstead (v.posh part of London) and I was so painfully-teenager-shy with the customers that I was literally scared of them. I ended up cutting my finger and bleeding all over the emmental and was fired on the spot. What a relief.
