Despite being deposited in the quiet corn fields of Iowa, Natha’s early years from birth to young adult in Southern California are obvious in everything she does. Her writing and music are no exception. With 6 CD’s of original and co-written material and poetry dating as far back as 9 years old, her energy has been documented from the beginning. “I’ve always been the loud fish in the quiet pond†She affectionately recalls her youth. That syndrome has been a part of Natha’s history wherever she has gone. Her ability to lyrically adopt her experiences has only grown in the peaceful state. Natha is known for her expression of her triumphs through benchmark moments in life. At a very young age, Natha’s creativity and age-defying understanding of life impacted everyone around her. She began writing as early as kindergarten with eerie adult-like grace and understanding, winning state wide essay competitions and local Governor’s writing challenges during her elementary years. An upbringing of poverty, continuous relocation and dysfunction only fueled the lyrical expansion she is so fondly known for. At 9 she began adding sound to her poetry on the piano with no formal instruction. Natha’s experimentation with instruments and words carried her into her high school years. After graduating high school at barely 16 in Iowa, her embrace of music slowed to embark a college education in broadcasting and film. “I became a karaoke junky, which seemed to happen whenever I had to neglect my music for other goals in life†she explains. Yet shortly after she graduated, it seemed fateful that a door would open to the most creative and expressive years in her life. In 2000, Natha joined the band “House Of Cards†as the back-up vocalist. She earned her way through the band’s early developmental stages. During that birth songs like “Faithâ€, and “This Is The Way†defined her growth as a musician and a woman. It didn’t take long for Natha’s powerful vocals and eager songwriting to make their mark. Within a year she was promoted and became the band’s front woman, where she wrote every song for the bands next 4 CD’s. Through six years of live and studio performance, her marriage to the band’s drummer, and children her songs began to adopt the clear wisdom only life can add to talent. “As our relationship dissolved, the whirlwind of emotions that comes with something so significant literally puked out into poetry†she recalls the bookmark time in her life. “That’s the way writing has always been for me. It’s my only real form of releaseâ€. Natha made that mark evident in songs like “Baby’s Gone†and “Kevorkian Remedyâ€, which accomplish a very human account of her sadness in recognizing the marriage’s end. Through the ensuing 2 year divorce, she continued writing and playing with her ex where her extraordinary strength found expression in songs like “Her-cules†and “Broken†before the band dissipated. Since the musical and personal split, Natha’s songwriting has only sped up finding aid in the creative hands of a Pennsylvania based producer/songwriter.
