SuperintendentHerbert Reynolds Davis is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan and currently resides in Durham with his beautiful wife, Psiyina (Sigh-yee-nah) and three lovely daughters, Keilah, Cierra, & Kylah. Herbert Reynolds Davis received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Kalamazoo College, and further prepared himself for ministry by earning the Master of Divinity degree from Duke University School of Divinity. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, FL.God has blessed Dr. Davis with a diverse ministry that expands across different arenas within the Church of God in Christ. Dr. Davis serves as the Chairman of the Ordination Council for the North Carolina 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and was elevated to superintendent of the newly formed Harvest District in 2002. He also serves as the president of the C.E. Anderson, Sr. Institute of Ministry which prepares ministry candidates for ordination and licensing. Dr. Davis previously served on the National Advisory Board of campus ministry, and presently is an active member of the COGIC Scholars Fellowship.Dr. Davis is active in the life of the community, which is seen through his past service on the following boards: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Durham and Orange Counties, Pregnancy Support Services and the Triangle Men’s Empowerment. Presently, his community service has him actively involved in numerous organizations where he effectively serves on the following boards of directors: the Strategy Team of Durham CAN [Congregations, Associations, and Neighborhoods] (Co-Chair); the United Christian Campus Ministry of North Carolina Central University (Chair); Duke Hospital Ethics Committee; and the Chautauqua Celebration Committee of North Carolina Central University. Dr. Davis is an educator at the collegiate level having taught at Shaw University, North Carolina Wesleyan College and Family Bible College. Currently he serves on the faculty of North Carolina Bible College and as the Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the Apex School of Theology.Dr. Davis is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Nehemiah Christian Center which is making maximum kingdom impact throughout the central region of North Carolina. His sound and thought provoking preaching coupled with an anointed delivery, has paved the way for him to travel throughout the state as well as across the country. Thus countless numbers of lives have been changed, relationships restored, people delivered, and most importantly souls saved through his ministry.Dr. Davis has been blessed with gifts, graces, and information that he is mandated to share with the body of Christ. Because of this charge, he is able to transcend the vestiges of traditionalism to reach diverse audiences. He describes himself as “an interdenominational preacher†and an unwavering advocate of ecclesiastical harmony.
