About Me

My name is Ron Morgan, bassist at large. My main gig is with THE JUMPSHOTS---a most peculiar collection of knuckleheads. We are some kind of dance/80's/hip hop/country band...mostly we are brain damaged- Robert Coggins, Pat Savage, Goose Dragoo. It's obvious. We have the greatest fans in the world-it's more like a party with all your old friends than a gig. To my fans-I do not have the words to say how much I love you-and appreciate how kind you are to me...I am the luckiest guy on the planet. I've been playing bass since I was 12 and I think I'm starting to figure it out-it's all about the holy trinity-Jaco, Jamerson, and Paul. There are a million bassists out there, but these three are the biggest influences in my life. Also must mention Carol Kaye even with her poor recollection of studio dates... I have played everything from classical to country, punk to funk, reggae to big band, jazz to disco and will admit it is STILL a blast!!! I have been fortunate to play with great musicians and in front of great audiences and am grateful every time I get to play for someone who inspires me. I love to zero in on someone in the audience or the dance floor and play just for them-try to connect- To me, bass is the greatest and most important instrument on this planet and I will be doing this until the day I drop dead. Please join me in my quest for the perfect groove and add your voice to the chorus...Come be a MUSICAL MONSTER-MUSICAL MONSTER-MUSICAL MONSTER-MUSICAL MONSTER-MUSICAL MONSTER-MUSICAL MONSTER-here on the island of misfit toys...we're a happy family...write me and I PROMISE to write back...Love, Ron

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: ronmorganmusic.com
Band Members: -These songs on my player are older than Kelsey's nuts but still worth a laugh-"SOMEBODY'S GONNA GET THEIR HEAD KICKED IN TONIGHT", "MARIES THE NAME", "WALKIN OUT ON LOVE", and "I GOTTA RIGHT" are the lengendary STRESS VICTIMS. Members are: PETE HUCKABY-Guitar and Vocals; SCOTT MARINER- Drums; ME-Bass, Vocals, Out Of Tune Bellowing. From the smashed album, "SCARE 'EM TO DEATH", Twisted Train Records. The Stress Victims are a band me and the great Pete Huckaby have kicked around for years. We played a lot of gigs at places like SRO, Club E, Bongo Sillys, Nitro,(anybody even REMEMBER those joints?) and had a blast. There is more to come........ "GOTTA GET SOME SLEEP' and "MOOSHY MOOSHY" features the band SMASH PALACE- ME on stand up bass,PAT MURRAY on piano,JOHN DELLADOVA on drums, and the one and only TOMMY SHANNON on alto sax; from the Twisted Train smashed record, "LIVE AT GREENWOOD". Freeform skullcap nuttiness..."STOP THE MUSIC" is for an old friend of mine who literally "blew his mind out in a car"; suicide. Featuring SHAMU THE MYSTIC on sax. ..."WHERE IS MY FREEDOM" - Me and SHAMU again - I love his playing. Pure torture.Perfect for me. Also added some tunes by The PUBLIC DEFENDERS from our album "GO!"-features the late great JOHNNY FRENCH on keyboards and vocals, and CHARLES TUBERVILLE on guitar and vocals-"I AM AN ANIMAL NOW" and "YOU'RE IN AMERICA".....Robert has some live tunes on the JUMPSHOTS page if just can't get enough-"COLD BLOODED" and a cool demo. I have some other songs I will put up soon-till then-have fun!
Influences: We are the sum total of our influences-what we grew up listening to, what we thought was cool, what we liked; all you can really do is try to be yourself which is the hardest thing of all.
Sounds Like: A busy, show-off bassboy running wild in a studio with no producer to stop him.
Record Label: Twisted Train Records
Type of Label: Major
