The new website, which is funded privately, opened for business last Friday (12th) and comprises of a review and discussion section for the towns facilities, news and events section and a local business directory. “We want to promote the diverse, independent businesses and become a showcase for what Folkestone has to offer,†one of the administrators commented. “A lot of the changes that have been happening are for the better and we want to show people thisâ€.
That isn’t to say they aren’t concerned with the downside of Folkestone. From looking through the existing discussions on the Forums the current decline of the high street is something that they feel strongly about. “"We need some retailers that Folkestone has never seen before" Says the other administrator. “Now we’ve lost Marks & Spencer’s and Ciro Cittero we need something to redress the balanceâ€
Members of the site get the benefit of the admin duo’s cumulative 8+ years experience running websites and forums. It’s early days yet but they are hoping that the site will become a bustling hub for the people of the town to share views and connect with each other, whilst giving a clear message about what the members like and want to see more of in the area.
