Hello brothers and sisters!
I’m Gianni Sciannamè, Scianna or Sir Funk or El Reverendo may be my quick names. I’m 30 years-old, I’m working with the music since when I was 16.
I’m born in Bologna but since 4 years I’m living in Barcelona.
I’m singer, bassist, guitarist, keyboard player and in Barcelona I have founded a funk-soul,jazz-funk band, Mothergroove with Abel Boquera, Daniel "Doc " Doctors and Roger Serrahima.
Actually we’re playing between Spain, France, Italy whith the biggest musicians in Barcelona.
In this moment 2 Mothergroove's pieces have been produced by 2 different labels in Spain.
Since 10 years I have spent my energies in the knowledge and experience of black music (funk, soul, jazz-funk, blaxploitation, afro-beat, reggae, acid-jazz).
My biggers musicals teachers are: Steve Wonder, J. Brown, Roy Ayers, The Meters, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Gil Scott Heron, Tower of Power, Don Blackman, Piero Piccioni, Mike Patton, George Clinton, Tim Maia, All Green, War, Mandrill, Pantera, David Bowie, John Coltrane, Chet Baker,Sly Stone.Really, my first band has been the Spot (funk-rock) with the big Luca Silvestri at bass, Umberto “El Chino†Gianpaoli e Gabriele Ulivi at drum and at guitar. With this band we have won the Rock title for Amnesty International in 1998 and we have played with the Casino Royale in Italy.
In the later time I have worked as music teacher and as vocal teacher then I have played with a lot of band of the Italian circuit.
In the 2000 I have been in Dublin and I have worked like singer and bassist in the Edison Circus Quintet (Fusion).
At the end of 2003, after some exibitions with the italian singer Valeria Rossi, I have created with the Fender Guru Max (Il Brigante) Magagni and the compositor Jamma Rocchetti (Morphology), “I Balordi, a rock band.The Funk is the rhythm of the heart and the Groove is the rhythm of the soul.
