...never underestimate the power of the Rock...

About Me

In the Beginning
It all kicked off in Belfast when I was playing the pub and club circuit with an old band called ‘Jude’. After gigging around in Ireland we decided to head over to London to see how the music scene was there. Not, surprising there was a lot of competition. And after a couple of years the signs were showing within the band that we were all heading in different directions. So it was mutually decided that we all go our separate ways. I went back home to start studies and work on my own music, which more or less takes me to this point. I'm now finished at college and am concentrating much of my efforts on my music.
Combining some fancy harmonies with poppy keyboards over rock guitar we get SolarScript. SolarScript up until now has been a one-man project but more have joined recently namely Ian Bennett. A great drummer from Dublin.
Many a critic has praised SolarScript’s debut EP ‘Blind Sound 1’. Flavouring a sweet blend of 70’s powerpop fused with 80’s melodies. SolarScript waylays listeners with multifaceted harmonies, unanticipated key changes, severe guitaring, piercing keys and all served up with a layer of perceptive lyrics!

In the Future

There will be more EP's to look out for and I will be gigging very soon. Right now I'm in rehearsal practicing for gigs. If you wish to hear any of the SolarScript music you can download songs from here .

Follow up EP ' Neptune Moon '

Following the approval from his peers of the debut EP and from local gigs SolarScript has released another set of tracks. The first song on this 5-tracker is the title song ' Neptune Moon '. It kicks right from the start. The driving beat lures you in and you feel a warm sense of attraction to the song. It contains mellowship yet also has a sense of urgency about it. A good start to the EP.

The next song is called ' All My Tears ' and is very dark. It's songs like these though that add depth to the EP. We start on the low vocal where you just know it's going to get bigger. And it does. When the chorus kicks in theres a lot going on including the crazy keyboard thing in the background. It's difficult to describe. Maybe the closest thing to describing it is imagine a train, you know when it's goes klunk-a-klunk, klunk-a-klunk down the line. Well, now make musical notes out of the klunks. You see I told you it was hard to describe but it's still pretty cool.

The third song on the EP is called ' They Want Us To Be Free '. And boy does it feel free. The sound from this song can only be described as a "wall of sound". It's so catchy. Critics have also described Nigel's music as "buzz power pop" and this certainly exemplifies this quote.

The penultimate song entitled ' Waiting on the Revolution ' adds a lot more spectrum to the album, a fairly slow tempo sad song with strong opinions about wars that need not have happened. In summation an epic track with plenty of strong motives.

The last song on the EP is called ' Song For My Life '. Mainly about bullying. No matter what age you are, I think at some point in our lives we have all been bullied in some way by someone. This very dark tune purely epitomizes the dark natures within life and musically displays them for the listener.

Out of the two EP's this one is certainly the darker of the two but is also the one with a lot more depth.

Debut EP 'Blind Sound 1

His debut EP combines some interesting music with an intuitive perspective of life through his lyrics. The EP ‘Blind Sound 1’ kicks off with an upbeat ‘ You and I ’ which incorporates an piercing-spiralling keyboard sound that keeps you hooked the entire way through. The vocals enter a tenor range with a soothing backing vocal, which offers the listener with a new emotional hub.

Next on the track listing is ‘ So long My Friends ’ which takes the acoustic and uses it well to define a classic melody along an epic anthem vibe. The vocal rides high with the hook in the chorus, which tends to make you sign with it without realising.

After that you hear ‘ Maybe I don’t Believe ’. This is a true power pop track with even the ohh la la’s in the backing vocals. The bass is rock tronic with distortion and a wah, which forms the melodic foundation for the other instruments. The song is layered with vocals enhancing depths of tones and various pitches.

Finally on the list you have ‘ I find you attractive baby ’. Mixing a hypnotic funky drum beat with the backing vocals using a vocoder it supplies a sweet blend of modern vibes with that classic punch of power pop. Altogether a great listen.
