GREAT PIT BULL STORY:One of our dogs was recently accepted into a non-profit k-9 training program called Law Dogs USA. Chance will be trained for 4 months in Washington and will be given at no charge to a police department who is in need of a service dog (most departments would love a sniffing dog, but cannot afford one as they cost $4000-$10000!) to serve as a bomb or narcotics sniffing dog! She has excelled in her preliminaries and we know we will see great things from her! Law Dogs USA is special in that is is non-profit, so all of you are familiar that they rely solely on donations AND they only take in pit bulls from shelters or rescues! They see the great in these dogs along with their intelligence and willingness to work, PLUS they know that these dogs need more help getting out of shelters and into great situations. Bruce: Bruce came to us from a very upset woman; she was getting a divorce and her husband couldn't take his dogs...so we acquired two WONDERFUL blue pits. Bruce went into foster care and within 2 days, tripped down the stairs and tore his ACL. Whether he exacerbated an old injury or created a new one, he went in for surgery, costing us $2400!!! We have some donations from the previous owner and current foster, but still have A LOT of money owed to the surgeon!Mitzie: 14 week old pup that fractured her hip. She recently had FHO surgery and is recovering with us now. Total Cost: $1000-$1200.If you are able to donate, please visit www.itsthepits.org to contribute via paypal. Please specify which dog you would like to assist. We (the rescue and the doggies) really appreciate it as we operate solely on donations!THANK YOU TO THE MYSPACE FUND FOR ANIMALS: WE RECEIVED $320 THIS MONTH TO HELP WITH OUR HEAP OF MEDICAL BILLS!!!
