About Me

I started to write just a little over a year ago, around Christmas of 2005 and by March, 2006, my first book, "Eden Moon" was born.Funny thing, I talk to people who tell me, "I've always wanted to write a book!" For me, it wasn't a conscious effort. I awoke one morning with an idea for a book and my first novel was born. Since then, it's been one plot line after another. A monster within has been unleashed!
Chance Encounter is my 2nd novel and both books, "Eden Moon" and "Chance Encounter" are Romances. I don't profess to be an expert in the field of love, although I have had my fair share of loss. In addition, I have traveled this great country of ours and have been in all but about 8 states, most of them via motorcycle. There is a romance of a sort in that particular mode of transportation. One can experience nature at her finest.
I offer this brief preview into "Chance Encounter" and if you are interested in learning more, please feel free to message me or visit my website www.debbieramsey.com for more information. You can read an excerpt there as well. If the story intrigues you, there is a way to purchase directly from me where you will receive an autographed copy. If you would like to have a personal message included, just let me know. I will be happy to oblige.
Grant Alexander is a twenty-seven year old rising star in the world of automobile racing. He's the primary driver for Team ADRS, a family funded NASCAR in the Busch Series. The team is considering moving into the Nextel Cup level of competition when the unexpected death of Nicholas, Grant's father, forces him into early retirement. As the sole surviving member of the Alexander dynasty, Grant is expected to take over the family business, abandoning his dreams of racing glory.
As if this wasn't enough turmoil in his young life, Grant's chance encounter with a woman on the street - a woman he believes is his destiny - sends his already turbulent emotions into a tailspin. When Grant exits Gucci's Menswear to inspect the shirts he had just purchased, he notices a woman frantically searching her purse for loose coins to feed into an expired parking meter. Chloe looks up just as Grant realizes that she is without the necessary change. He takes her hand and, looking intently into her eyes, places some money in her palm. Even though each is drawn to the other, neither one utters a word. Grant turns away and leaves her standing on the street only to wonder just who that kind fellow was; but more to the point, how would she ever find him again on the busy streets of Los Angeles.

My Interests

I enjoy the warm weather and being outdoors. I love to shoot trap, fish, plink a target with a .22 target pistol (and I'm pretty good, so don't mess with me!) Horses are my first love and I spend time, when I can, with the local horse rescue up in Cherokee county.

I'd like to meet:

- Paul Levinson is an award winning novelist and the author of The Plot to Save Socrates and The Silk Code. Read what he had to say about Chance Encounter:

"A fresh, fast, smoothly mixed cocktail of a novel. Debbie Ramsey has a keen eye for people and detail, and serves us a mix of NASCAR, Cape Canaveral, a ghost or two, and a set of players that tempt, fascinate, anger, and engage us. Take a chance on this encounter - the most you'll lose are a few nights of sleep."

Music:

I like just about anything but jazz fuzion. To me, it's too disjointed to sound like anything. I have a very organized brain and fuzion just doesn't fit in. Other than that, I like Matchbox 20 & Rob Thomas, Pete Robertson (check him out on myspace), Chad Lamarsh (another indie who you need to check out) GooGoo Dolls, Five For Fighting, Beatles, Tom Petty, Neil Diamond, the 80s sound, ... my God, the list goes on and on! Oh, and I musn't forget the classics. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Amadeus Mozart, Bach and Bethoven to name a few.

Movies:

I love a good girlie flick, although I don't get to see them very often. I also like anything Arnold (Schwarzenegger that is!) as well as a good mystery or suspense.
The Hunt for Red October and other Clancy works
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Titanic
Ever After w/Drew Barrymore(talk about your consumate chick flick! and Doug Ray Scott is to die for!)

Television:

24!
History Channel
Learning Channel
Military Channel (yes, really)
Discover Channel

Books:

I love a good suspense story, mystery and real life drama. I'm really not a reader of romance, although I have read a couple of Danielle Steele and Jacqueline Susan books.
In the meantime, check out my friend Paul Levinson's latest sci/fi treat:

Heroes:

My mother! For someone who has been through what she has been through in her life and can still offer love and support to everyone around her absolutely amazes me. Her strength and ability to give selflessly is an inspiration, not only to me, but to all who know her. Check out one of my books and see her art. She sketched the faces of many of the characters in Chance Encounter as well as Eden Moon!
