About Me

Welcome to the party I call life!
Me = Lynda..... Hi!
You = Stranger.... I was taught never to talk to or take candy from a stranger....
So don't be a stranger !!! Dee Dee Dee....

You have to take the good with the bad, smile through the sad, love what you've got and remember what you had. Always forgive and always forget, learn from mistakes but never regret. People change, things go wrong, just always remember.... Life goes on.
I'm young enough to have fun and old enough to know better. I live in a small beach town in Southern California. My family is my haven and my strength (outside of God of course). My friends would probably say I'm a character/comedian and have a big heart (which can sometimes get me in trouble). I tell people not to try and figure me out... many have tried and are still scratching their heads. There is what I call the "base model" which is me and then there are all of the add ons (various traits and moods). I'm like a box of chocolates.... you never know what your gonna get.
I enjoy learning about and experiencing new things whatever the subject may be. I believe you are never to old to learn new things..... all it takes is a willingness and an open mind. I have seen, done and experienced much in my life but know I still have more ahead of me and I look forward to the challenges and blissful happiness that is sure to come my way.
Since entering the Myspace world I have met and made many new and interesting friends and found some old friends as well. I have my own company (see About Dillon Media Group below) I run as well as helping others with their companies. Did I mention I'm a juggler too (LOL). I love what I do and wouldn't change it for anything.... well I might change it for a few things.... I am on the computer most of the day working or running around going to meetings and on the phone a lot and sometimes I just need a break from it all. I do appreciate my friends and try and keep up with them as much as possible. In fact I have some of the most wonderfully talented friends! Everyone brings their own style, beauty, creativity and intellect to the party.
I am a supporter of the military, have done children’s advocacy work and supporter of several charitable organizations. It’s not something I wave a flag about as I do this for my own personal reasons and satisfaction. I enjoy helping others and watching them succeed whether in life or business. I also offer my services free of charge to certain charitable organizations, but you have to be a certified .org such as Child Help USA or The Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
Aside from work I love spending time with my friends and family. I'm the type of person that can spend time by myself and not get freaked out over being alone. I do enjoy going out to clubs. However, I'm also not the type that lives for each day or weekend and going to the hottest spots for the sake of having nothing else in my life that's more meaningful. In other words - thankfully I've grown out of that phase of my life. I sound like a walking contradiction (LOL). I like to have fun with whatever I'm doing whether it's going out to clubs or staying home and enjoying time with my friends or family. I'm pretty adaptable to most situations. I can go out to a benefit gala or stay home and play video games or needlepoint and be comfortable and happy either way. The ability to laugh and joke around is always a good thing.... would it bother you if the old song "Fire" from The Pointer Sisters came on and I started doing my rendition of it as Elmer Fudd? And if you know the song I am referring to.... bonus points to you!

My Interests

--Always Remember-- Love is patient,
Love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrong.
Love does not rejoice in evils but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Things that are soft on the outside and a little rough around the edges (smiles and batting eyelashes).

Film, Fashion (design, photography, makeup artists, hairstylists, wardrobe stylists), photography (architectural, still life, scenic) art (classic to abstract), theater, ballet, symphonies to rock concerts, science (I love to learn how things work), world history, architectural history, astronomy, a nice hike on a cool Autumn day, the rain, a big beautiful full moon. Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons. Watching from my house as the dolphins jump through the waves (they get pretty close to shore) and hearing the seals out on the rock. Being out on the boat far off the coast where you can't hear a thing and just listening to the silence. Tantra Yoga and Hatha Yoga. I love to dance. I was a competitive dancer for many years so dance workouts are my preferred workouts such as belly dancing and hula. My youngest niece is an awesome competitive hula dancer. Intelligent, engaging yet relaxing conversation. I love to bake. I can cook too and many people have eaten my cooking and gone on to lead normal lives... but I'm a baker at heart. Let's see what else... oh yes pets. I like kittens because they are playful ... I dislike when they grow into cats... they are to aloof and no fun. I LOVE dogs. Not the small yippee type with short legs etc.... I love big, smart dogs like a boarder collie (that's actually a mid-sized dog) or a regular collie (like lassie), German shepherd, retrievers... you get the picture. They also have to be trained (dogie etiquette). I so dislike people that can not control their dogs, letting them bark and bark or go on others lawns, etc... A well behaved dog is an intelligent dog and so fun to play and run with. I had a boarder collie and a regular full sized collie when I was growing up.

These are a few of my favorite things.

I am Irish, German and French. Mostly Irish. I like to study Ireland's history and have traced my families roots and origin of surname back to Ireland - County Meath. I've been learning the Irish Gaelic (Gaeilge) language (off and on). My word it is a difficult language to learn! Here is an easy example (don't sound it out... it sounds nothing like that) - a ghrá mo chroí.. I also know sign language. I enjoy learning about new places and languages

I love music. Music is an expression of the soul. The melody and the lyrics blend together to create songs that express what mere words can't. I love music that speaks to me is passionate and touches my heart or beats that make me want to get up and dance. Music is my backdrop to everything I do. It inspires me, it is personal poetry set to a melody.

My musical tastes vary a great deal as do my other interests. If it doesn't cause great bodily harm .... I'm usually at least curious about it.

BTW - If you make it through all the text on this page kudos to you, your paying attention

I'd like to meet:

Who I'd Like to Meet:

There is one person I would so like to meet and that is Jonathan Rhys Meyers.... oh my I love those lips and can linger there.... best set of lips on a guy I've seen. Not to mention he is IRISH!!!!!

Friends and Networking. Nice normal people. Mentally stimulating, original, funny, creative people. Honest, open, loyal, trustworthy and honorable, all of these qualities are a must for any situation. Must know how to laugh at yourself and see the bright and positive side of life. If you can keep up with quick witty banter I'd like to talk to you. Other qualities include taking the time to get to know someone. You are comfortable and adaptable to various social situations and know when it's time to play and when it's time to show class and elegance... then hello. Qualities that won't get you anywhere are; a negative, pushy, arrogant, energy sucking, draining person. Summary... People who are uncomplicated.... life can sometimes be complicated enough.... drama belongs on the stage not in my life. No train wrecks... and keep the baggage to a minimum. Your only allowed one or two carry-ons.

I absolutely despise arrogant, egotistical men. I will shoot you down... I won't give you the time of day nor would I even want to work with you. I've had way to much experience with that type of man. In my opinion if you don't have anything else to offer other than your resume of things you supposedly have done.... walk on little man.

In short - those beautiful people (inside and out) that can bring something new and different to this party I call life.... you never know who will drop by the party!!!!

Networking - Finding like minded people with whom I can network and share ideas and interests. If you know me and know what I do... I want to network with you.

Movies:

My favorite movie of all time would have to be Ishtar.....I am so joking... no it's really not my favorite (lol).... The Holiday (I can totally relate to the character Iris) Moulin Rouge (original and beautifully styled movie). Pride and Prejudice (The 2005 version with Keira Knightley) The Notebook (is this movie NOT on everyones list?) Goodfellas (Who doesnt like a good mafia movie?) Reservoir Dogs, A Few Good Men (classic Jack Nicholson speech "You want me on that wall. You need me on that wall") Office Space ("but that's my stapler... he took my stapler") Monty Python and the Holy Grail (everyone needs a "cow-tipult") Laura Croft and the Tomb Raider series ("This is where I start to have fun...") Seabiscuit (somehow I could relate to the horse - go figure) Galaxy Quest (laugh myself silly every time I watch it) Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl, P-2 Dead Man's Chest and P-4 At Worlds End. (just to sit and watch Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom not-to-mention Ted Elliott & Terry Rossios' wonderful writing (I've known these two since high school) Which leads into - Shrek (You guys should have won the Oscar for screenplay!!!) Mr. & Mrs. Smith (love the cool delivery of the banter) Forrest Gump ("From that day forward if I was going somewhere I was running"), Under the Tuscan Sun (I still got it, I still got it... Yes I still got it) Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Robert Downey Jr. is such a great actor even through all of his troubles). Pulp Fiction ("When you do it be cool"), Saving Private Ryan (extremely moving), Blood Diamond (intense to say the least) Lord of the Rings series. Booty Call, The Cutting Edge (Reminds me of the old Grant, K. Hepburn movies when they used wit and banter) All Audrey Hepburn movies she had such beauty, grace and style. Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffanys are two of my favorite Audrey films. Gone With The Wind, The Sound of Music, Funny Girl, etc....Musicals from the classics to current. I'm not a big horror movie fan. I could go on and on....

Television:

I never miss an episode of Entourage, The Tudors, Ace of Cakes, Top Chef, Dr. 90210, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, What Not to Wear, Worlds Deadliest Catch, Alaskan Adventure, Gene Simmons Family Jewels (cracks me up). Some other favorite TV shows include; House, How It's Made, Sex and the City, Scrubs, Mind of Mencia, Band of Brothers, Absolutely Fabulous (BBC), true crime/murder mysteries, biography shows. HBO, Discovery Channel, Bravo, Travel Channel, Science Channel, VH-1 (yes), History Channel, Sci-Fi Channel etc... If it's regular TV it has to be funny or interesting to make me sit in front of a box.

Books:

"What is reading but silent conversation"- Walter Savage Landor

Due to the nature of my business, I read a lot of industry specific books and papers. Enlightening but not all that entertaining. I try and sneak a mind numbing book or magazine in every so often. Currently reading 'The Other Boleyn Girl' and 'Backyard Astronomy'. Love to just go browse the bookstores and see what topic or book catches my eye. One of my favorite books (simply for the title) is "The Treasury of White Trash Cooking". Some favorite writers and poets Willa Cather, Robert Frost, Nathaniel Hawthorne, D.H. Lawrence, Jane Austin, E.E.Cummings, Dali Lama, T.S. Eliot, William Faulkner, Hemingway, Shakespeare, Walt Whitman, Oscar Wilde and more.

Heroes:

Those that give freely of themselves and their time without any thought of getting something in return. That ability is truly a rare gift to give and to find.
I also give a special thank you and salute to the men and women and their families in the military. So many are so quick to judge these brave men and women for their actions. I say take a good long look at yourself first before judging someone who's shoes you have never had the courage to walk in.
Thank you to those that protect and serve us daily in the civilian world. The police (my father a former marine and retired police officer) and firefighters (my brother a firefighter) and the sacrifices of their families. My grandfather who was an immigrant from Ireland, fought in World War 2 before the Americans became involved. My grandfather fought with the French and became an officer. When America finally got involved he came back to the U.S.and fought with the Americans as an Officer in the US Army. My grandfather was gassed (mustard gas) it didn't take him at the time. He was lucky enough to make it back after the war.... finally the mustard gas took his life. My grandfather was a man of deep conviction and honor. That conviction and honor carries on today in my family. I had Uncles who all fought bravely in the Army, Marines and Navy. Unless you've lived it, you'll probably never understand the heroic efforts of their every day lives.
I think everyone is a hero or mentor to someone at sometime in their life. There are everyday heroes among us. You just have to pay more attention and look around you. A hero is not necessarily defined by strength or bravery but also by heart and intent.
My parents married 52 years and still crazy in love with each other. They are really something to see together. Perfect examples of love and sacrifice and raised 5 kids to boot!
