Papa Roach On Tour Now!
I'm a bodyworker, working for MO and NCTMB licensure. My meager excuse for a website is www.kristinaning.com. I love music, but am partial to jazz. Especially with a good bassist. I tend to be verbose, but attempt honesty and articulate writings in my journal. This is ningdigiblog! : )
Will do anything (well just about anything) I can do to promote the music scene in KC. Schleping, street team, merch support, writing reviews. Will travel!
According to The Secret Language of Birthdays book, March 12th is The Day of The Great Leap. I'm a Pisces: a Dancer & Dreamer, Water Rat in Chinese zodiac. Enjoy live music shows & theater, writing in my journal, intelligent wit, art & photography, quality musicianships. Thumping around on my basses or guitar (when no one's around), and humming along with the rhythms in my soul. Good coffees/wines/whiskeys, delicious food, excellent greenery. Not necessarily in that order, but any combination will do! Always game for talking music or traveling for some good live music. As Joni wrote, I love the Refuge Of The Road. Wanderlust is both a welcome lover and a bitch to be around, but still I return to her. Again and again.
I LOVE vinyl records and music memorabilia. Have recently been helping Zebedee's RPM Music Revolutions, a new record store in Kansas City MO. I'm working on creating their online presence and eBay Store Inventory.
Live music recordings list http://db.etree.org/KristinaNing and other info on Yahoo, profiles.yahoo.com/KNING312 . Listen to my Launch station! http://launch.yahoo.com/lc/?rt=0&rp1=0&rp2=5979440 .
Quotes I can relate with:
"I play it cool And dig all jive. That's the reason I stay alive. My motto, As I live and learn, is: Dig And Be Dug In Return." -Langston Hughes
"The power of music to integrate and cure...is quite fundamental. It is the profoundest non-chemical medication." --Oliver Sacks
"Imagination is more important than knowledge." --Albert Einstein
"Ignorance Never Settles A Question." --unknown, from a fortune cookie!

Heroes:

Really I look for inspiration from whom or whatever crosses my path. Certainly a few close friends inspire me often, just with their presence.
Milt Abel's smile, whistle, his style of humming along and bowing whilst playing bass has forever tugged the strings of my heart. My fondness for upright bass is rooted in seeing him play Big Noise From Winnetka throughout my childhood. Rest in Peace Milt.
My living heroes? Pat Metheny, Victor Wooten, Gerald Spaits, my Dad. Along with my Dad, Gerald Spaits had a huge impact on my bass playing when I was quite young. Victor Wooten and Pat Metheny regularly inspire me to strive for excellence in everything I am capable. I'm still petrified of playing outside my house. But Vic & Pat, you guys fan the firelight in my fingers!
Meeting Dave Matthews has been one of the most beautiful things to happen to me recently. ;) His work helped me begin writing and playing bass again after 15 years of fear and silence. Thank you soo much for YOUR good energy!!
Recently pressed flesh with Lenny Kravitz, who is one eternally cool individual. Without a shred of pretense he is a genuine, kind soul, unfailingly true to his music. Good to see an artist not afraid of exploring genres return to some funky roots. Looking forward to that funk album Lenny!!
