While working as disgruntled AV technicians at a conservative club in Philadelphia, Johnny Shock met Low Budget’s drummer, Steve Please and invited him out to see his new, Chuck Berry-influenced project. When Steve got there, the ‘band’ was just John with a guitar, who handed him some drumsticks. He’d been officially tricked into joining! After blasting through several raucous, unrehearsed shows, this ‘retarded version of the Cramps’ won many fans, inspired a Shock logo Tattoo, and, despite VH1’s lack of coverage, touched the lives of a generation.
