I live in New Orleans. I'm an artist and screenwriter. I'm working on a Katrina Documentary. I was the only filmmaker to actually live through the entire storm and its aftermath, without leaving - that means - no groceries, no water, no baths, no electricity for months - living off of my car's battery for a little A/C every now and then (it was near 100 degrees everday, infested with mosquitoes, and damn impossible to sleep indoors) and for charging my still and video cameras' and computer's batteries - asking any and every outsider to bring in gasoline and medical supplies. With the only working non-official car left in the city, I stayed behind and filmed it all... and helped and interviewed as many people as I could. I evacuated friends and strangers, volunteered with first aid, and brought people food and water before any official help arrived. It was an honor. To end it... I worked with the Urban Search and Rescue Firefighters looking for dead bodies throughout the city. ...I never left New Orleans, not for a single day - unless it was to go to other other hurricane-ravaged parts of the South like Mississippi and Plaquemines - and I chose to help, not just watch, but be part of the first responders and document my story and theirs and all my neighbors... because I live here... there was so much to do... I have seen it all...
In addition, I will be releasing a Katrina photography book, and later a novelized version of my experiences. It was the adventure of a lifetime. I learned so much in only a year - filled with destruction...
My other projects are writing several screenplays, including one about the Korean War.
I also work in all the visual arts when I get time, and write poetry and music.
My hobbies are being a biker since I was a teenager. I have a Harley and love it.
Future jobs I would love to do are to document the life of living blues, jazz, and gospel musicians; native tribes from around the world; and be a war-combat photographer in the most dangerous parts of the world.
I've been an artist my entire life...
...and despite all kinds of setbacks, and tragedy, I've had an amazing life, and the best is just about to begin!
All the photographs in the photo section are shot by me, and show what I lived through and saw with my own two eyes, and walked through with my own two feet. They were the most amazing experiences of my life.
